Always try to give a company 6 months so I have time to learn the company rules. But 1 company I was with for only 10 weeks and could tell they were not worth my time.

I was hired by CR England & quit after about 30 minutes; that's when I woke up in a cold sweat and realized it was just a nightmare.

If a company knows the meaning of respect i'll give a 2 weeks notice.Otherwise i'll wait till im home to clean the trk out then tell them I quit and bring trk back.I did that with 2 companies,Gainey and Werner.

although this is an old thread, maybe we can revive it. i parked my truck 2 1/2 weeks ago because of all of the impending rules being imposed on our industry and because i want to be home with my family. i took a job as a roll-off driver for a sanitation company and i earn as much as i did being an owner/operator, but now i will have full benefits after 90 days, i am home with my family, i go fishing or do my hobbies every afternoon, no more log books, MUCH less stress, and believe it or not, i don't get looked upon as a dirtbag. i have never understood why truckers are looked down upon, but when a sanitation company driver gets more respect than a trucker does, that tells me that i made the right decision. i came home from 2 hot loads (that paid VERY nicely) and parked my truck, put it up for sale, started my new job, and life is great. just do it !

A friend of mine, company driver for a reefer company, did the same thing with a sanitation company. Makes a lot more money now and home every day.fordconvert Thanks this. -
Went into an Outfit to fill out an app. was about 2 pages into it and the boss walks by and says."Hurry up w/ that." I looked around to see who he was talking to. There wasn't anyone else in the room. Got up said. "Sure I'll hurry up." Walked out.
tueur d'enfants and Marksteven Thank this. -
When driving sanitation the "one" is in the tank.
When not they assume the "one" to be the one in the driving seat.
Seriously , I never understood the lack of respect shown to drivers.
As for sanitation it probably pays well because people think it is a sh!tty job that sucks a lot. -

One month for a window company. The pay was not the greatest but it got me by my fathers house once or twice a week. Usually a four day work week which was cool. But I told them from the start that on back hauls to grocery warehouses I am not the lumper, not for the money they were paying me, we will have to hire one. So on one back haul it did not pan out for them. Funny thing, after I quit I was browsing Craigslist for jobs and they had my "old" job listed at over .50 per mile.
