I hear that Swift and a few others will give you two years pay(as in you have two years experience) as a student if your former military. I'm not sure on this and there is probably alot of stipulations to that but something to look into.

This guy served our country. Telling him to work for a low wage mega carrier is an insult. How about thanking him for his service with some real and useful advice.

If you are in tx id say tankers with all the oilfield work and hazmat loads around houston. check the oilfield portion of the tanker forum on here

 

Sorry to disappoint you but some people don't like tankers and hazmat, I'm thinking about the training he would get more then the money he would make because he can go with an outfit that has 10 days training and make a #### load of money and get in 3 accidents the next week then where would he be? Atleast going with a mega that at least has a decent training program that would train him how to be a driver and not a 4 wheeler in a semi seat would be better in the long run. He can always stay there for a year or two then write his own ticket to go where he wants to. The only reason I mentioned Swift is because I KNOW they will use ARMED SERVICES as experience an will start you out with better then average training pay.

 

Lets help the guy. Stylized you are rather blind to this business. Your swift comment is the blind leading the blind. and now you are defensive about it. i dont care.

Now lets get back to helping a guy who has served our country instead of insulting him with cheap wage mega carrier recommendations.

 

I'm "defensive" about it because your trying to steer him away from training by sending him to a little outfit. There is a reason the "Corporate Giants" have a training process that is so long. Its so when your done you know what your doing. just my $.02 take it with a grain of salt as you should anything on here. What works for one person might not work for another...just saying
