I too was thinking of a tire cord breaking down from the debris he hit.

Am I the only one that noticed he is posting while driving? Is that why he hit the road debris?

I would check ALL the tires on that side carefully.

Volvo tractor, SLC terminal - could be Knight. If so, at least he is headed to a DECENT shop instead of the idiots they have at their Phoenix shop. . .

went thru SLC yesterday, replaced one drive that was at 6/32's supersingle, the lowest of the bunch(yeah right 350k!, try 148k)
also thru it on the alignment rack .... all good there. and the guys checked it out for underbody damage....

    Nothin----

Continuing trip to IL, and seems now to be getting worse... gonna try to hit the TA in effingham tonight to balance steer's, as i've stop every 100miles to inspect all tractor tires for any missing rubber... ALL look good. It's really amazing i can type with the shaking as my co-driver drives... i could scramble eggs without touching them.

    :biggrin_25514: Thanks for response !

Just a thought. Has anyone checked to see if the wheel bearings are OK and adjusted properly?

you have a problem somewhere if you went through an X1 in 148k miles. Eskim is running them and he says they are not doing good on mileage but they are doing better than that

If it was a steer tire it would shake the wheel out of your hand when the shaking starts. I can almost promise you it's not a steer.
If you have a cord seperting problem you won't find it unless you have somewhere than can spin them while putting a load on them. well eventually you will find it when it comes apart!! :biggrin_2554:

The drive i replaced was on the left side rear, on the side that i hit 'le FOD' on tuesday.
would you rule out spending the $50-60 bucks to balance steer's, ? and just focus on the remaing drive on the left side? :biggrin_25511:

ps. these smiles crack me up, or is that the shaking...

    We've seen it before.

From what you describe I wouldn't ballance the steers but that would be my money, and if the company pays for it then why not:biggrin_2555:
