To be clear, I was being sarcastic. It wasn't a mistake in that I accidentally left myself on duty while sitting. Let's call it poor "time management", which I will watch more carefully in the future.

"Safety is our highest priority," said U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. "These rules make common sense and improve safety for every traveler on our highways and roads."

Really? . . . I'll believe that when "Abe & Sea Biscuit" no longer pose a hazard on the highway!

NO DOUBT!!! I was in Amish country a couple of months ago in Mid-Ohio and it must've been the Amish500 cuz I'd pass one (on a skinny two-way) up over a hill and on the other side two more, one on each side of the road. Scary, even though I was CREEPING along....

I was in Ohio a few months ago at night on a 2 lane road with no shoulders. Came up on 3 Amish wearing dark clothes on bicycles in a curve. I was astonished they were out there. Obviously little or no thought was involved concerning safety. Would be dangerous in the daytime and borderline suicidal at night.

The Amish pose no threat to us...its us who are dangerous for them.

They have every right to be on the road, same as we do...when you see them they are doing their everyday thing...they're home...we are just passing through.

All you need to do is pay close attention when you're in Amish country.

In my opinion....they're smarter than all of us, and have every right to live their life as they see fit.

It would also be nice to see panhandler laws restricting them from Truck Stops.

If they are so smart why did they fight to not have reflective triangles ? Their home is not the highway and I am not aware of any horse and buggy taxes funding highways . Smarter ? While I respect the Amish facts are facts . http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/4...on-mental-retardation-developmental-delay.htm

Based on that reply...even if I explained it...you still wouldn't get it.

    So I'm not gonna bother.
