Well, new drivers have to start somewhere.

You just gotta pick the lesser of the evils.

Imo, Crete isn't so bad. Especially for gaining experience. When I worked at Crete, I met several drivers with less than a year coming from Swift etc.

People have a problem and they go to the internet. Thats why you read so many horror stories. Rarely do people come on here to say how awesome their company is. And if they do there instantly called a recruiter here.

I didn't know Opie's or Oakley took students? Food grade tanker right? I thought it was experience required for them. I'm looking into companies yet and Crete is a little big for me but seem pretty decent for a new driver. I wouldn't rule them out. There really is only a couple that have the absolute worst reputation from what I've read and heard. CRST and CR England would be a no go for me. I doubt I'll have to resort to either one if I do drive but some do like them and go where they have to.

I've been reading these different boards for several years and have read bad about a lot of companies but I do agree options are limited for some due to location or record. If everyone had the perfect job or the perfect starter company there would be no reason to have a forum, what would they have to complain about. That would knock about 1/3 of the posts out.

Riveting post op. I was clinging to every last detail. Last night I lay awake, the thoughts of your post and all the valuable information it provided running through my mind like an out of control freight train. I don't think anyone here can thank you enough for the treasure chest of knowlege you have handed to new drivers. Surely your post above all others will set them up for years of success in this industry.

You and starvintrucker need to get together a create one comprehensive list of companies we all need to steer clear of so that we don't have to keep reading these individual threads.
