Is reckless driving pulled on your Mvr

MVR goes back 3 years in most States... Criminal record is from 18 on... that is probably why the discrepancy.

 

It will be VERY hard for him to get a job as a driver. I would encourage him to seek another career.

 

It doesn't matter how long it stays on a MVR if it was there. Reckless driving and fleeing and eluding are both major offenses. They will find out through other sources. Almost all these training companies subscribe to DAC. They do Federal and statewide criminal searches, they check federal and county court records along with sex offender registries. If something is out there they will find it.

As far as major traffic offenses it's a minimum of 3 years at most places. If he had his CDL and experience it would be much easier than his current position. Calling recruiters and the initial application process they probably won't find it. But before he would get his CDL they will. Usually around after the drug test do they get serious with completing background checks.

That's all on the states end.

So if he tries be up front and honest. Then there won't be any surprises like trying to figure out how to get home 600 miles away from the house.

 

Well... if you go to DMV in Colorado and pull your record, you'll get three years worth. However (I found this out back in the 90's,) your entire driving record is available, they don't just snip it off year-by-year. I had a speeding ticket I plead to, and the DA's file had my entire driving record including my graduated licenses as a teenager.

The OP should be aware that many carriers can and do pull the entire record, not just what you get in the short form at the state driver's license office.

 

points drop off after 3 years. but i know i get a copy of my mvr any time someone runs it in the mail. i get a copy of the mvr plus tells me who requested it and what info they gave them. whenever trucking company's pull my mvr its almost always 5 years. and everything shows up. from every state. i got a seat belt ticket in Washington probably more than 5 years ago now but pull my own mvr in my home state it never showed up ever a trucking company pulls my mvr it showed up every time.

 

Every company I worked for required an H6 printout which is 10 years but points only stay on for 3 years. I think they want a 10 year history to look for patterns.

 

They "want" a 10-year history because federal law requires it for experienced drivers. It's usually 3-years for newbs. However, your complete driving history since they gave you training wheels is available for the asking... that's the point. Don't even think about hiding serious traffic violations in your past.

 

They probably got it from CDLIS.

 

It's not hiding when they ask, on applications, to list only for the previous 3 years. I've never seen an application that asked for anything further back than that.

 

And you can bet, if the carrier is serious about making sure someone with serious violations is not pulling something over on them, that they will request the entire file about the time they show to orientation. My carrier does... and sends people home regularly who have not come totally clean about all of it.
