I was a company driver so it certainly didn't come out of my pocket as it was not my fault. My company probably charged the receiver for it. The power company does not garentee 100% power all the time. The receiver should have had a back up gen or batts. Most places with electromagnet cranes have batts that will last 10 seconds. If the power goes out the operator has 10 seconds to put the load down. It was totaly te recivers fault for not haveing the proper safety equipment in place.

I wonder what would happen to a set of tractor bags if you were heavy and drove a significant number of miles with them DEflated. Would that possibly damage that lining or bag as it was riding around on the "rubber stops" inside? I don't know. I've never seen those bags disassembled and don't know the inner workings of those systems. I'm just asking a question but it would seem dumping the bags when heavily loaded and continuing to drive on a a bouncy stretch of road and across rough bridge aprons would have to be hard on something inside the bad assembly.

It's like watch this.... VaROOOOOOOM! I'll make that pin come out.

Some drivers are just not mechanically inclined.

I never heard of anyone busting airbags so it had to be a sight. The trailer must of stood up on it's tip toes as an icicle was shoved up it's.... :biggrin_2559:

Thats a pretty common thing-sounds like he stretched one a little to far, it was probably worn out and might have been out of its sleeve before . Dont rip on your co-driver that is like blaming your partner if you are a cop. I know the schools and the company and US. Uncle sam have blown alot of sand up yer butt. Pero ya gotta shake it off. (Pero, in this context means but). My co-driver did it, oh my wicked nasty codriver. 45 MINUTES at a TA and two hundred beans later and down the road you go. AND dont hide it from your company, wouldnt they think they were smart if they got you to pay company repairs for them. This aint an accident , no matter what that brainless bimbo in safety has to say about it.

Replacing airbags does'nt take long but if the shop does'nt have them and they it it delived from a parts store ,that could take hrs.I busted an airbag once and took TA 6 hrs to fix.

That's right you can't go anywhere can you.But knowing roadside it'll still take 4 hrs or better to come to you.Just depends how many are ahead of you.How ambitious roadside is.Your company will pay for it but be prepared to reimburse them, tell your co driver that.

You'll sit on your frame, it'll be rough as all git out and you'll be happy when you get back and have bags installed.

You have stops on the frame that will ride on the axle.

I wouldn't want to do it loaded, but have done it empty for about 150 miles to get back to the shop. Drove over, bought a new set of bags and in 30 minutes, had all 4 bags replaced in the shop.

You can use an air nozzle to inflate one bag and it will give you the lift needed to put the other 3 bags in.

I would to know three things from the OP:

Why didn't he bother doing the right thing and calling Road service??

Did you do a pre and post trip???

Would you be upset if you got stuck in a situation like this where you were solo and had to go around finding mt's on your clock thanks to someone's stupidity??

Edit: Just because he's your co-driver doesn't mean your not responsible. As someone knowing what happened, your just as responsible for the damage as he is.

If the guy is a trainer for England you can bet your ### he's going to blame you. Still training and you already have a mark on your record. The trainer didn't want to report it when it happened because he was logged on as the driver. If he waits until your drive shift he can easily put you at fault. You best cover your ### and report it before he does!
