Is there a drastic difference in the pay during the winter months?

Nope. You just have to plan on not being as busy in the January/February time frame, meaning its a good thing to have some money set aside - but this winter I was real busy.

I didn't think there was a slowdown this winter..... Till March hit, and I didn't have time to breath.

I didn't experience a slow down either... Except when weather delayed me. 2009 was horrible, I sat a lot... '10 was much better, and '11 was stellar!

Yep... deliver, drop trailer and bobtail home... unless you live within 50 miles is a terminal. I think its 50... they never made a fuss when I didn't park at RTCDEN.

You need to ask about McElroy on a McElroy thread. Company reefer in one of the lightweight tractors starts at 41-cpm... 8-cpm of that is paid as non-taxable per diem. There's a variable fuel bonus on top of that... ChuckTaylor got 9.4 mpg last week, and hit 6-cpm on the fuel bonus, for example.
