You need to talk to people who are in a Lease. They will have the most input. I don't know why when someone mention , about leasing . The thread get side track. Its the same ole comments. I really think it should be a sub forum on this, that way people who are against leases will stay out!!!!!!!!!!

I have said that plenty of times, so us owner operators dont have to listen to it all.....

To be 100% fair and honest, no one is forcing you or anyone else to read or respond to the threads regarding lease purchases.

I originally posted this thread to get opinions from those who are successful with leasing, not to have disgruntled people tell me I'm an idiot for even wanting to try.

Back up Betty. No one called you a name, never mind calling you an idiot. Wow you flease guys are overly defensive for some reason.
You posted in a PUBLIC forum, so get used to receiving replies from.......you guessed it.....the PUBLIC.
As I have been saying, making your own section would keep us OWNER OPERATORS from posting. Seeing as this is the owner operator forum, and those of us that have replied with common sense advise, are indeed owner operators, you may want to just man up and realize you are going to get replies from the likes of me. Who'd have thunk it huh?

I would agree there should be a seperate forum for those that want to talk lease purchase.

I read something the other day that said 85% of lease purchasers fail. If you knew that there was an 85% chance that a plane would crash if you got on it would you get on?

Both seem like a ride I wouldn't take.

You're right, no one called me an idiot directly. But, anyone who tells me that I'm going to fail without providing any real facts to back up that claim is doing the same thing - assuming I'm stupid enough to believe it.

I never said that I expected the public not to respond. And owner operators are exactly the kind of people I am wanting to talk to. Specifically, I want to talk to guys that have or are currently leasing successfully. Who better to ask than those who are living it?

I wasn't defensive in the least before I posted this, but I feel that way now because a majority of the posts have nothing valuable to add other than "You're going to fail" without providing any factual information to back that statement up. And I think it's ridiculous that there are guys on here telling me that leasing is a bad idea, but can't pinpoint why. No one has said that they failed at leasing and then said why, but there have been plenty that are telling me it's a bad idea and give no reason.

And my original statement is still true... I have no problem with anyone wanting to reply who has something to contribute, but it's kinda silly to come in here and complain about threads like this when you're under no requirement to even read it. If you don't like the lease purchase discussions, no one is forcing you to take part in them. If you have some useful advice, by all means I welcome it, but why go through the effort of complaining about a thread in that thread?

For true owner operators, I would say 75-80% from the folks I have known over the years.
Simple fact of having money behind you when you start, and having to have experience before most respectable companies will lease you on, automatically gives the owner operator the major advantage over a guy that has a few months or an even years "experience", and cant manage his own personal finances.

Truck driving in general has a 120% turnover rate. If we all based our decisions on that number alone, none of us should've even risked becoming drivers.

It's not the 85% that's important. 15% do succeed... and anyone can be a part of that 15% with enough determination and commitment.
