Hey there -
My 07 780 Volvo just developed this issue yesterday. When the air pressure drops down to 95 /100 psi to kick the compressor in. There is one valve on the dryer (smaller one) that will leak constant air for approx 1-3 minutes and then stop. While the compressor is running to build pressure up that same value will have constant noise until the pressure reaches 120 psi. After the pressure is back at 120 it will hold pressure for approx 7-10 minutes while running down the road before it drops 100 psi. Only time you hear air rushing out is only for those few minutes. The pressure never drops below 95 /100 psi. It will loose air while parked over night not running.
I replaced the dryer filter today and there was gunk inside the housing. I cleaned it out and put a new filter on it. While it was apart I tried to make sure there was no gunk left in the small valve area. The valve can be pushed back up slightly to stop the leak with your hand while its doing it.
So I ordered a new dryer that will be waiting for me when I get home. The real question is - should I run it 1200 miles home? Like I said it never drops below 95 psi and the compressor is not running constant.
The part that really sucks is for once my reefer isnt running but tonight I get to listen to the air leak. If your parked next to stop by and say hello or maybe _________. I will be the guy that has the long burst of leaking air every so often.
Thanks in advance for any input - Todd

Don't buy the dryer if you bought a new filter get the rebuild kit I made that mistake. Also never hurts to replace the governor too.

I had the same problem, I bought The rebuild kit from Volvo, for my air dryer, I believe it was $35 dollars.

Am I missing something -
The turbo valve is only held in place but a snap ring - remove that valve comes out make sure the hole is clean, lube up the o rings on the new turbo valve put it back in and crack open a cold one???
Seems a little to simple for a Volvo???KB3MMX Thanks this. -
it's a meritor part,not volvo so don't get too excited!now you know why it's only $35 and 20 minutes to fix.good luck.

Happens to all of our tractors running the meritor Air dryer. We keep those in stock at our shop. The meritor part number is R950013 (Volvo part number is 3918352)and it takes about 5 minutes to change it out.

I just got home tonight so first thing tomorrow I will change out the turbo valve.
Thanks to everyone.KB3MMX Thanks this. -
Well I think it took 7 minutes. It was by far one of the easiest repairs I have ever made. Wish i would have had the part with me while on the road.
Thanks for the pointers!KB3MMX Thanks this. -
Good atleast someone here is saving money. Nothing more relieving when you make an easy repair and it works. So many times its the opposite.

#### right, sounded like a severe leak/major $ problem but a cheap simple fix for a Volvo! I had the same problem months ago. Simple remove, clean and replace the part. I called into Little Rock Volvo/Mack on my way thru, they were close to closing but they agreed to check it out, got me in and just did it out in their parking lot right quick and I was on my way.
KB3MMX Thanks this.
