yes yes yes, another. sigh. and yes ill be staying here, whoever it ends up being, for a while.
im thinking jb hunt at the moment because of all the companies ive called thus far, they seem to offer the most pay. itll be a regional job, home weekends, and about 1000$ per week. then a couple months down the line they told me i can switch to another job, where id be home pretty much every day, and make a bit more.
also called roehl about flatbed, and maverick about flatbed. still nervous about it tho to be honest. looking to make a decision sometime this week as i want to get started next monday.
considering LTLs like saia, reinhart, estes id need my other endorsements, mbm, mcclane, abf, yrc i think ill try since i think someone said they might take me. still going to try of course.
live about 20 miles west of milwaukee, so if anyone has any good suggestions id be more than willing to hear em.

also looking for a company with good benefits

well, unless i get a better offer, its come down to either jb hunt or TMC.

All the company's you listed will have comparable benefits. Some may be cheaper than others. Other than that, they are very different jobs. You really won't know if you like flatbed until you do it. Most drivers either love it or hate it. If your going to do Flats I would pick Maverick over TMC. JB is not a bad place to start but they will micromanage you. LTL is home daily but you will start on the flex board, drive slow crappy trucks, work long hours, sometimes on the dock and be micromanaged. If you stick it out for 2-3 years you can get a decent start time and make $60k+. Food service? I would pick Mclane, but same as LTL. You will start on a flex board, drive mostly nights and unload 1400-1600 cases per route and after a few years be making 60 - 70K. JB and Maverick are truck driver jobs (a Lifestyle). The others are just jobs driving trucks.
Good luck.Dark_Majesty_06 and Marky84 Thank this. -
maverick was my first choice for flatbed but im not in the hiring area for it. i wouldve been doing reefer.
