I don't do it on every load but my all miles the first half of the year is $3.28 so no I don't do bad.

I've got $41,k in a savings account that's burning a hole in my pocket my trucks paid for and has 950,xxx miles so its getting that time I've been thinking about a glider but for $119,500 I can get a new non glider have a better warranty and have new motor/trans not rebuilt and from what people are telling me DD15s 2013s are getting 7.6-8.0

$3.28 per mile SOUNDS wonderful, but how many actual miles did you drive to earn it? If you only drove 13,000 miles, that is horrible. That's only $42,640 gross. Fuel will drop that to $32,500 to pay for fixed overhead.

Someone who drive 7000 miles a month and earned even $1.90 per mile average (more typical freight hauler) would have earned $79,800 in the first 6 months already this year. Almost twice as much gross earning. Fuel will drop that $32,760 Giving you $47,040 to pay for fixed overheads.

Almost $15,000 MORE profit just hauling general freight off a load board.

While quality is good, sometimes quantity will still benefit you greater.

    In other words....

What is YOUR opportunity cost to turn down lower paying, but more of them loads?

    ETA:

    Consider this too.

To justify the expense of a NEW truck for "fuel mileage", you will need to see a 2.5 to 3 mpg IMPROVEMENT over what you are currently getting to give you an adequate Return on Invest. (defined as paying for the investment in a TIMELY and reasonable fashion) For capital equipment expenses, that is typically 3-5 years or LESS ROI. (Will it pay for itself in the time it is depreciated out?)

You got me there I've only drove 31,000miles. My all miles drop everytime I run over the road but I've only done that 3times this year last time I was out dropped my all miles did 6,200 miles but ended up $2.47 but sometimes I like to run!!

i do more $550-$750 200 mile runs than anything else that's why my numbers are what they are I also have a customer I move loads to the plant and get $750 a load for 8miles....No really and do at least two a day!!

Does anyone actually know what type of trailer the OP is going to pull?
Lease onto a company or own authority?
Or are we just going to sit around and brag about what we make? Which doesn't help the OP AFAIK. Hell, he hasn't even posted again after all the BS started flying.......
Not sure about Mercer neither, we just had one of their guys come over to where I am at. His average rate this year was stupid low IMHO.

BS as in talk not associated with the OP's questions, not lies, so it's all good.
Yeah, someone said Mercer on the first page......From what one of their guys said he was averaging, with his own trailer to boot, I certainly wouldn't recommend them myself.
