After looking at their website and talking to the recruiter I'm really hoping I can get my first trucking job there..I'm looking for opinions, and they start new divers out at.33 cents per mile , worth a raise to .35 in a month and .37 in 6 mos, I think after a year out so, they raise it to .42 cents...the thing is, theyre flatbed trucks and I heard those are a pain...I like that that I could bring my dog with, it makes things easier...
Ok I just pasted the benefits they offer below...Please tell me your thoughs,it sounds good to me..soudns the best out of the companies ive looked at so far....And Loading/Unloadign is 100% no touch so it shouldnt be too big of a hassle except for putting the tarp on/taking it off, right? Are tarps very diffucult to deal with?

Just my 2 Cents.....Any flat-bed outfit that pays cpm instead of percentage should be avoided. Cue in on System Transport or TMC.

Flatbed is a pain to lazy people; to anyone else, it's a great career making over $50K per year. Melton is one of the best. Can you climb and crawl to secure flatbed freight?
There are also other companies that allow you to take your loving mutt with you :.
Watkins & Shepard
Central Refrigerated
Morehouse Truck Line
WEL
H.O. Wolding
Covenant
& moreMarky84, Jrdude5, WoofWagon and 1 other person Thank this. -
Why should they be avoided if they pay cpm?
thanks! -

I will say this, I went with Melton not long after I got my CDL. I had driven for Swift for 6 months and got tired of running short hauls and makeing 500ish a week (gross, not net) so left them. While I was there they trained me pretty well on securement and tarping. Had to say I was pretty impressed by the office and the trucks. They seemed to take really good care of their stuff. The instructor for orientation did let us know that they do tarp alot of stuff. "Tarps and straps, we'll haul your crap" is how he put it. Only reason I left them was because my g/f at the time had a fit I went to another OTR company (we had a son on the way, born 2 weeks after I left Melton.) Funny thing was, I was down at Laredo when I let them know and the terminal manager actually came out to talk to me while I was securing a load on the yard to take back to Tulsa to turn in the truck. Had a really awesome talk with him for about an hour. Dangit, now you got me thinking about going back with them.Nightwind8830 Thanks this. -
Guess it depends on who you talk to. I spoke to a Melton recruiter a few days ago, she told me I couldn't get on because of lack of experience.
