I posted a questions a while ago about getting a flow through muffler for my t600. Its a 2007 with an NXS C15 in it. I got the answers i was looking for about the part numbers, but i was told recently that if i replace that catalytic muffler that the engine will do crazy things. I have done diesel exhaust mods on my pickups and never seen that happen, but i just wanted to check with mr haney. If i need to do special ecm programming please let me know. Thank you!
mr.haney please help with cat mods

Nothing crazy is going to happen. I removed both of my catalytic/mufflers several years ago, and the only thing that happened was better throttle response.
-
Good to know. The place i am leased on with was told by our local cat dealer that if they don't replace stock catalytic mufflers with oem parts they will have issues on their 379 petes with c13s.
-
I replaced the catalytic mufflers
with regular mufflers on my c13. Like Oscar said improved throttle response and gained about .2 mpg. -
That is interesting. Cat must be just trying to cover their butt by saying not to remove them due to fed emissions.
-
CAT can't "legally" say you can remove them.
IMO rip them off and get back to trucking. -
There probably referring to dpf equipped trucks
-
The op has a 2007 NXS C-15, they did not have the DPF on them, only the catalytic converter mufflers.
-
Yes, and the company trucks i was referring to are 2006-07 pre dpf c13's that also have the catalytic mufflers. I know cat can't legally tell anyone to remove emissions equipment. Its just stupid that some fleet managers believe everything. They had a 379 that rolled over and they were telling me how it was gonna cost them over 5 grand to redo the exhaust. I thought why not put 2 of the donaldson free flowing muffs and for 90 a piece and call it a day.
-
Any of the mufflers from the 2003 to the 2007 model years have converters in them. They can be replaced with any type of muffler and the ECM or engine will not be effected. Is it illegal to remove them? Yes. This is why a Cat dealer will require you to replace them with the correct part number if they are damaged or fail due to age.
