If your lucky, you will get an experienced trainer, not someone that was where you are a year ago. Hopefully he will be close to your age, so his music doesnt make you nauseated. Also hope you get a clean trainer. It will be his truck and his rules, but you have rights too.

When you start training, he will ride shotgun while you drive. Before you know it, you will be driving while he sleeps, and vise versa.

It will be fine. Just don't let him smoke cigarettes while you do all the tarping. I doubt there's enough loads to keep you running day and night. If their is, flatbed isn't a drop and hook atmosphere. Businesses open and close. They also have appointment times. Remember,,,,,, companies that have trainers are companies drivers quit at. Drivers quit because they ain't making money. Don't think because he's a trainer means he knows what he's doing. He probably can't find a good job because he's had too many mishaps. It also don't mean he's a better driver than you are. Gotta start somewhere, good luck.

Just like anything else, go in it with a positive can-do attitude and make the best of it.
    You'll do fine

You shouldn't throw all trainers into one category. TMC has many great trainers that have not only have been driving for a while but also know how to teach their students how to do the job safely and effectively.

Each person's experience with a trainer will be different, depends on your location and the runs you get. But, they do try to get a trainer local to your home. Although, many in my class has to drive 100-150 miles to meet their trainer once they got home. I decided to stay in Des Moines due to me only having to stay out two weeks and I'm glad I did, I had one of the best trainers in my opinion.

You may drive team eventually but not starting out. Starting out you should be the one driving and doing most of the securing with help from the trainer. You'll learn a lot of tips and tricks out there to make things easier. I will say one thing when you are on your own... Watch out for the "Sheriffs", they are the safety drivers out there. Some will call on the smallest of things.

My trainer back in the day was great. We got along good and everything. The first two weeks we ran the truck only on my hours, sometimes he took over if we needed to get somewhere because we were running behind. The last few weeks we ran as a team pretty much. I hated that as trying to sleep in the top bunk while he drove was almost impossible as it seemed to bounce like crazy up there. I also hated that I had to drive 150+miles to get to my trainer. But he was cool and usually would drive when we were coming home for the weekend as he knew I still had to drive awhile home.
