I am on seizure meds but have not had seizures in years. Would I be able to get hired on to a trucking company?

    No.

You will not even be able to obtain a CDL with a history of seizures, nor will you pass the physical if you are truthful about your history and tell the Dr. giving the physical about it.

There may or may not be a waiver program in the state you live in that would allow you to drive intrastate.

Oh, and please don't hide it from the Docs and the DOT just to get your medical card and CDL, driving a CMV with a known seizure condition just isn't safe. My family is out there on the road too.

We had a guy when I went to school who had a seizure 9 years ago but was still on the meds. DMV wouldn't even let him take the written tests for his permit. They told him he would have to be off the medication for one year before he could be considered.

Sad to say friend, with a history of seizures I would strongly suggest that you do not get into trucking. I understand that you are on medication and that it is working well for you. The risk is still too great. Can you imagine driving a 80,000lb tractor trailer and having a seizure, you lose control of your vehicle and take the lives of innocent victims? Please Sir, be considerate of the safety of others.

My father also took seizure meds all his life. Went years and years without having one. Then one day he did....my brother was killed in the accident.

My first co-driver hid being a diabetic from the Dr. during his phsycal. He hid it from his trainer and from me. Until one night he had to wake me so I could scramble to find his shots hidden somewhere in the truck. Luckily he got pulled over safely before any harm was done, but that was pretty scary stuff. He has since left trucking. I think it scared him as much if not more than it did me.

Medical conditions like these can be a real hazard out here. Unfortunately I have to agree with the others, please consider some other profession. Having to live with the result of just one bad day can be difficult. I know no one wants to see that happen to anyone.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

Does Schneider know about your medical history?

Also, I'm going to edit out the name calling in your post. That's not allowed here.

You call out a person in your first post who hasn't been on this site since May 2008.
Did you think to look when the OP was actually posted?
And the regs may have changed in the 13 years since the OP. Newer meds may have allowed some to get their CDL, when before they would have been disqualified.
