If the driver wasn't attempting to split the sleeper break then yes, he drove past the 14th hour.

He should have stopped driving at 2000.

You have answered the question correctly but did not say when the driver was in violation! This way others know when or why they wasn't in violation.

Many drivers learn by saying: You are in violation because you DROVE passed the 8:00 pm mark (being the 14 hour rule).

Example 2: I would say see you started here and didn't drive passed the 14th hour and you didn't drive passed the 11 hours allowed time so you was fine.

It's all in the wording, that's my main point to the log auditor and to the driver well it's so he understands why he/she is ok or not!:yes2557:

    But the answer is correct

If he was attempting split break he would still be in violation! The driver did not have 8 hours in the sleeper so therefore he/she could not have driven passed that 14 hour mark! Remember once you enter lines 3 or 4 after a complete 10 hour break (or longer) your 14 hour clock starts, there is NO WAY to extend or stop it UNLESS you have 8 HOURS IN THE SLEEPER (ALL 8 MUST BE IN THE SLEEPER AND CAN BE MORE THAN 8 BUT ONLY THE TIME IN THE SLEEPER WILL EXTEND THE 14 HOURS).

So if I drive 5 hours and sleep 7.75 I must still stop # the 14th hour and take # least 8 hours in the sleeper!

If I drive 5 take a 2 hour break (can be line 1&2 combined w/e as long as no line 3 or 4 time) then I must still stop # the 14 hour mark but i only have to take # least 8 hours in the sleeper, but the driving time prior to the 2 is still counting towards my 11 & 14 hour period.
Brief scenerio of split breaking, I am going to post some examples of it , later!

Once everyone agree's/understands the 2 examples above! If you don't understand the above you can't split break! Splitting is VERY VERY VERY EASY AND SO IS THE 11 & 14 HOUR RULE! This is to all drivers not just "silver"

Ok LogLady--so if you take an 8 hour break to split break--how long does that extend your driving time? (this is where i get confused--the reason i try not to split break) :biggrin_25510:

I know kind of messy :).
Always assume I start all logs with a full 10 hour break at the beginning of the day :)
    Please ask questions !
