A bit pricey for a community college/tech school but I'll bite ... what makes it the best? What is the instructor-to-student ratio? How many in a class? What type trucks (sleepers AND daycabs, van, flat AND tanker)? How many students in a truck? Graduation rate? Successful placement services for new grads? Experience AND qualifications of instructors? How many actual road hours? How many accreditations and by which authorities? These (and more) are just some of the variables coming into play when judging a school.

8 students per class, 3 instructors, van, flat (about to get some brand new trucks last I heard). Instructors have lots of experience, 1000 road hours (track, hwy, city, weigh stations, ag., 4 hrs of nighttime). It is accredited, and is the 1st and oldest cdl school in Fl.

Much obliged. Some of this information is what helps prospective students select quality schools. This one sounds excellent, especially considering the 320 hours which is the route I went after deciding to come back to the industry after 25 years in another career.

    Bigrob73 Thanks this.

I just finished at TDI Sanford. Hard work but worth it. for people who live a ways off they have a deal with a nice lodge. You pay the school 100 and you stay at the lodge Mon-Thurs night for 3 weeks. That was 100 total.

The school got me here to Transam easy enough. The instructors really go out of their way to help you if they see you are trying. If you don't practice on the backing range you are going to have a very hard time passing the course. Sarge helped me a lot with backing and Terry and Tom got me through the driving skills. I'm in Texas with Transam now and having a blast.

Thanks for the info FlMaineac. Is their job placement program as good as they make it out to be? I was told by Rodney Tilson, one of their recruiters, that by the time you complete the course you'll have multiple offers of employment to choose from. I just want to clarify any overexaggerations.

I had plenty of offers through the school. Not great but keep in mind we r the new guys on the block. I am having a great time in Dallas with Transam. They don't repay your tuition but u will be in your own truck and on the road in about 3 weeks time. Don't forget you can also find other companies on the web that are not available through the school. Melton made a nice offer but they r flatbeds. I'm to lazy to do all that tarp work but if I was younger I would have jumped on it. Fair money for the work and it sounded like plenty of miles. Just get through the school and yes you will get hired fast. Good Luck
