Hello everyone! My name is Kim and I currently live in Las Vegas. My fiancé is going to start his orientation for Andrus Transportation this coming Monday in St. George. I served in the Army as an 88M Truck driver and drove LMTV, PLS, and 915's. I don't have a commercial DL but I am thinking about using my Post 9-11 GI Bill to go to school and get my CDL so that he and I can team drive one day. Nick has driven in the past for Schneider, CRST, and Swift. He has been out of driving for about 9 months now and was working a dead end security job here in Vegas so he decided he wanted to get back into driving, he put in many aps at different companies like, Andrus, KKW, Gordon, and a few others I can't think of at the moment. Andrus was one of the first companies to call him back and they offered him a job on the first call. So he accepted and quit his dead end job and now were looking forward to what the future will bring us with Andrus. I have done a lot of research here and online about the company, there wasn't a whole lot of information but the information that I did find did sound promising so were crossing our fingers everything works out for us. This forum is a wealth of knowledge and is much appreciated by us![]()

What is a good trucking job to one person might be a bad trucking job to another. Good luck

And welcome to the forum -
You planning on running teams with him?
You need your hazmat with that company.
Looks like a good company.
Hope it works out for you both. If not, look at some companies with terminals in Las Vegas, if that's where you plan to stay. -
Not just yet but maybe next year. Which companies have terminals in Vegas?Chinatown Thanks this.

Watkins & Shepard
Knight
That's 2 with terminals in Vegas, off the top of my head. Might check which company is pulling out of the Target Distribution Center in Henderson; maybe there's a company with a dedicated logistics account there. Careerbuilder website might have some companies listed with terminals in Vegas area.
Watkins & Shepard has a good reputation with drivers & also a tuition reimbursement program. -
welcome to the Forum....

a few guys im in classes with are using the post 9-11 to pay for it, you should give it a shot, team drivers can make real good money and companies tend to give you more miles from what ive heard because youre constantly running.
VegasKim Thanks this. -
you don't need a company with a terminal in vegas you just need a company that will let you take the truck home...... our home terminal is 200 miles away from home..... we have never had to leave the company truck at a terminal.... what you need is a company that can get you home to vegas for home time and let you take the truck home

Thank you for your response. Andrus did let us know that he would be able to take the truck home, and there is a drop yard in Vegas as well. Nick starts his orientation tomorrow for them, so we will know more this week about how the company is. like I said we haven't really heard anything negative about them. Just hoping that things go well with them.
