Do they actually have interviews? If so do they interview multiple people or just hire the first one that checks out?

Depends on the company. Usually you're first company is pretty much like Semi Crazy said. Pulse, license, keys. Your interview is, "Can you show up on the 17th for orientation?"

Good companies will do actual interviews and real checks on you. I had to go through three interviews with three different managers and a road test before they even started the background checks. Then it was waiting for four weeks to verify my background and two separate drug tests. Luckily I ran through there every week because the job was 2000 miles away from where I lived at the time. Nothing like showing up for an interview in another company's truck.

most of the mega-carriers will take anybody who shows up for orientation. There is no interview process, just some checks for driving history, drugtest, etc. They don't even care if your dressed like a hoodlum, or smell like you havent had a shower in 3 years.

hang out at a truckstop sometime,...look at those individuals who are the most poorly dressed, nastiest, and most unfriendly...and then look at the logos on the truck when they get in and drive off sometime.

I was just approved to go with Roehl and their RDTC training program. I had @ 11 other companies send pre hire letters all ranging from .22 miles solo to start up to .41 mile solo to start. They may interview you but it would be in your best interest to interview them the best you can of course through asking questions etc before you make a decision. Highest CPM may not mean largest paycheck either. Need miles etc.

Depends on the company. The big ones are like others have said....they run your background, and if that clears, they ask if you can show up for the next orientation.

A small company, the owner will interview you and may take you for a driving test as well.
