If you've ever barbecued a brisket in a Texas pit cooker then you know that the way to tell how long to cook it is based on some simple math.....

2 beers, (minimum), an hour.....

you will need at least one case, and probably more like two....

A perfectly cooked brisket is a thing of beauty and can't be rushed. (I would also suggest pouring beer into the drip bowl, for humidity, so take that into consideration as well...)

Brisket and beer.... it don't get much better than that....

And alcohol isn't illegal, so you drinking beer on your hometime is no one's biz but your own.

 

Easiest way to do this.....if your old enough to drink, drink if you want. If you do it and get in a truck or go to work, be ready to face the consequences. If you are at home, it didn't matter what the company says.
And as for that "no drinking 24 hours before you come in" rule that some one stated, hate it for you, if I'm off duty I can drink, you can't regulate it. If I come in you can test me, but as for telling me I can't drink Saturday night if I go in Sunday afternoon, I would have to tell you to your face to kma.

I said I do the 24 hour rule for personal choice. Have I ever drank then went to work the next morning? Sure. I don't follow that rule all the time, I try too just for personal reasons. I agree with you though. If I'm off duty, ill drink if I want

No some one else in the thread said something about not allowing their drivers to drink 24 hours before going in, I believe.

Oh ok. I know at roehl their policy was 24 hours I believe or something. I didn't agree with it, even if I bought a hotel room that I paid for with my money for my 10 or even for a reset they didn't want us drinking. I'm an adult, not a child.

If I'm at a truckstop on my 10 and eating supper before I hit the racks I'll have a beer if the TS serves it. For me, alcohol is a drug, but it, like caffeine, can also be a tool. A single beer isn't gonna impair me the next day, or even that night. But it sure can help unwind a bit and get a better night's sleep. Now I won't take the alcohol into the truck obviously.

As for having a drink then getting into your truck then getting hit, how is that your problem (besides having to do the paperwork, take pictures, etc.) As long as you are on a break and will have at least 4 hours before you drive from the time of your last drink you are good to go by FMCSA regs (obviously not talking about getting hammered here.)

While I understand drunk driving is a serious issue, as is alcoholism, some people seem to be taking this issue way too seriously. Someone once said we're becoming a nanny state. I'm starting to think they were right.

 

Between waiting on a load Friday and my reset I have been off for 63 hours sitting at a truck stop. I drive team and my co driver is up to drive next. Why cant I have had a 12 pack last night while sitting 2300 miles from home?

I don’t see that drunk truckers are a problem on our roads. If you want to drink and your off duty, in your truck or at home, I don’t care. The problems I see out here that scare me is drivers texting on theyre phones, Watching videos on theyre computer or smart phones. Or playing on theyre computers while driving and they get mad at you if you point them out. I see it all the time. I think it’s worse than the 4 wheelers on the road. I guess it’s because they sit so high up that no one can see them, like the cops. Also the guys that have theyre windshields so full of electronic gear they cant see where they are going. Ya, you know the ones.
