Like the guys with 2 GPS units, his phone, and a note book pad on its own suction cup thing to the window.
Only thing on my windshield is the windshield wipers on the outside, maybe a few bugs every now and then.
Or the guys with a dumpster sitting on their dash..... Though that discussion is in another thread lol

Ok. Let's clarify a few things:
There are several types of testing. If you are suspecting of DUI/DWI, most agencies have a SOP they follow as "Indications of Driving Impaired" such as failure to maintain your lane, swerving, crossing center, erratic speed (Speeding up, slowing down for no apparent reason) failure to maintain minimum speed etc. Once stopped, the observations continue. Slurred speech, glassy eyes, odor of an alcoholic subtance / beverage on or about the person.
Field testing. May consist first of the use of an approved field testing device such as an Alco-sensor or it may be a SFST (Standardized Field Sobriety Test) or both.
Legal testing. (For evidentiary purposes) If reasonable suspicion exists or is discovered leading authorities to believe you are under the influence, further testing will be administered - usually consisting of an approved collection device to measure your BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) such as an Intoxilyzer 5000. This is the device where you blow into the tube, administered by a certified officer trained in its use.
In the event you may be rendered unconscious and reason exists for the same above, blood may be collected to determine your BAC.
You of course, can always refuse any of the above at which time, a warrant can be sought to gather blood evidence regardless and at a minimum, your commercial driving career is over
This is not correct. There are many variables that play a factor in being "Intoxicated"
Physiology, body weight, body mass (Body fat) health, amount consumed, regular user, casual user, heavy user. Reason? Depending on frequency and amounts consumed, the body can actually produce enzymes that offset the effects of alcohol. Men produce more of it than women. Percentage of alcohol by volume of whatever is consumed and so on.
Use common sense if you do drink and remember, no matter what you think you can do to offset your drinking, such as eating a meal, drinking lots of water, the only thing that removes alcohol in the body, and your blood stream, is TIME.
You may want to also remember your companies own policies, such as anything consisting of a BAC of .01 or more may result in immediate dismissal / termination.landstar8891 Thanks this. -
Ok jbee.
I disclaim anything I said that could cause bodily harm by taking what I said and implementing my advice to their lives as a means of determining how much alcohol they might consume in a given amount of time.
Happy now? -
However, according to what your saying...
Driver: drives up to the terminal.. Walks inside...
Supervisor: Hey he looks drunk, lets make him drive the rig and see if he's swerving.
Huh? We are talking about company tests not LEO field tests. -
As I understand it... your position requires no defence.

Very true statements. The sad part is that it is different for everyone on ''how long'' it stays in the system..
There is NO scientific formula for this.Everyone is different..It is ''safe'' anymore, not to drink prior to coming on duty driving..It sucks but that is the truth..
I got called in on a random and i got hit with the Alcohol Test too..It is up to the ''company'' on what the BAC is and that is different for every company..With Nazi Landstar it is 100% 0.00000000...If i drank 10 hours prior to this ''random'' and blew a 0.0001,i was terminated through Landstar but not disqualified through DOT EYES...
It seems that many of the companies rules are much more stricter than DOT these days.. -
Land star I never see you come in till after the wars over.
Canadian? -
I can't believe this thread is still going.

"Holier than thou" mentality! Mind your own business then you won't have time to be minding my business. At least that is the way I look at it! Sad to see the way our nation is going toward isn't it!

I often wonder why truck stops sell beer and alcohol in general, I have seen many a guy walk back to his truck with a six pack or couple 24 oz cans. Hope they were parked for the night too. You got to ask yourself though, is that one beer worth your job and livelihood? Most companies are way more strict than the DOT and will not condone alcohol consumption at all in one of their trucks. When I worked for swift, they fired a guy for drinking in the truck. Dude came out of a pilot down the road from a terminal and ran a fire hydrant over and kept going and got pulled over by police. Guy had a sea of beer cans on his floor ankle deep and the truck smelled like a brewery. If you can't stay clean from alcohol and drugs this isn't the job for you, I sure don't want people driving with me on the highways drinking or doing other illegal crap.
roadlt Thanks this.
