Posed a question via recruiting as to whether we could use one of Maverick's local offices as our "Home Terminal" (e.g. My Home 20 is in Cincinnati, Ohio so I would use the Middletown office.) The advantage is moving the two 1a-5a "Reset Fences" an hour ahead of NLR in the Central Time Zone and be a big help getting out ahead of traffic in the eastern states.

At this point it's only an "interesting question." There is supposed to be a meeting with Safety on the new HOS, so it will be interesting to hear the answer.

Thought I'd give these new HOS a chance before making too many comments. Well here we are nearly 4 weeks into it and I've made up my mind.
    They Suck!
I've been bumping my 70 hour all week. Loosing drive time to the 30 min deal and not getting as many breaks as I'd like. I'd much rather take two 10 min breaks then one 30 min.

    projump and Dinomite Thank this.

The 30 minutes is required to be off duty so does not affect your 70. You'd rather take 2 10 minute breaks? By the time you get off the road and back on for 2 10 minute breaks you're losing more time than you would stopping for 1 30 minute break.

    Sublime Thanks this.

These 30 minute breaks are doing nothing at all to improve safety. It is like most liberal doctrines.... symbolism over substance. I would rater take a five minute break when I do my load check and be back at it and do that three times rather than one 30 minute. Because guess what? After I take my 30 minute break, I am not going to take any more 5 minute breaks along the way. I think they are absolutely ridiculous. Along with the new 34 hour break rule. So instead of getting my 34 hrs in and heading out, I now have to do a recap. Not because I did not get in my 34 hrs. I actually get in more than 34 but because it has to be only one per 7 day period. So I am going to be pushing it harder to get down the road with my recap vs just taking it easy like I always did. Anyone that thinks this is a good thing ought to have their head examined.! You are the frog in the pot of water that is on the stove. You won't complain until it it too late!..You will never complain and you will be dead!
