Right now I'm driving a 10 speed and when I shift from 6 to 7 I usually get stuck 6th even if I time the accelerator right it won't come all the way out of gear. But if I shift without raising the rpms too high it will usually come out. So is that the problem?

So you're pulling it out of gear but it won't slide out completely?
Try shifting at a slightly higher RPM. The higher the gear the more RPM, that's progressive shifting. Basically.
Or you could use the clutch to help get it out of gear. -
Sounds like the sliding clutch teeth for 1st/6th gear are just not worn/broken in as well as the other gears, which I think is pretty common. If 1st gear is rarely used in low range, it will take much longer to wear/break in than the other gears, and 6th gear and 1st gear are physically the same gear and sliding clutch in the main transmission.
Which means you have the same problem with 6th gear that most of us would have with all the gears in a brand new tranny after being used to a well worn tranny. It's just harder to shift out of gear if it still has sharp edges on the teeth. -
Thanks that helped.

When it come to floating gears it takes a little time. I learned very quickly how to do it. Even still I grind a little or even forget what gear I'm in. you'll catch on. Down shifting, I found sometimes it helped to use the clutch just enough to get it out of gear. I got so use to floating I had a hard time double clutching. But if you are having a hard time up shifting you may be running to much RPM, or push a little harder on the stick. Good Luck.
