After some long hard thinking and the state of the economy here in washington state. I am going back out trucking. Lets see if I can live longer then the first few weeks at a new company this time.
I hope that it will be different out there this time. My hopes are to high I think. I'm thinking it will be exactly as it was with swift. I'm off to knight transportation. I've had a few buddies tell me working for knight is a lot better then working for swift.
Locally I keep running into the problem of needing 1 to 3 years of experience. I read an article on here a few days ago that said to just stick it out up to 5 years and you can pretty much go where ever you want too.
So, the new adventure begins. My wife and son aren't to happy about me leaving again. I'm not happy either. But someone has to pay the rent. I guess I'm going to have to tell my wife to kick out the boyfriend when I come home. lmao...
Well I'm going back on the road ...

Not sure who hires in washington, but have you tried Roehl, US Xpress, Stevens, Prime, Maverick, Crete, Shaffer, Schneider or Melton?
Either way, just remember that even the lousy carriers have happy drivers. Make sure to get on your DMs good side, it will make a world of difference.Chinatown Thanks this. -
If you decide to leave Knight, look a the Trans-system website; 3 good companies there in WA state. The tanker one would probably give you more home time & make the little wifey happy. Those 3 companies hire new CDL school grads and even recruit from DTS.

Chase05,
Ya US Xpress wanted 3 months of verifiable experience. I only had 2 months with swift. So, US Xpress wouldn't hire me. Schneider I looked into and couldn't get past driving a orange truck lmao....
The other companies are to far away from washington state. I didn't want to take a GREY HOUND BUS FOR 6 MONTHS to get to orientation. lmao.... -
Chinatown we talked on the side before. Im actually in talks still with system transport. They told me to go out and get a few miles under my belt and they will hire me for flat bed. They said that if I had 100,000 miles which is 1 year experience I would still need to go to there 8 weeks of flat bed training.
She did tell me that if I were to drive reefers, they knock off 4 weeks of flat bed training. So I thought that was interesting.Chinatown Thanks this. -
That seems odd, unless the thought process is with Reefers you are constantly checking things, such as temp, load locks, especially if it is produce, so getting onto the habit of checking your load securement would not be a drastic change.Chinatown Thanks this.

Watkins & Shepard has 2 terminals in WA and hire new CDL grads.

Do you know how to determine if the little wife's boyfriend is a Marine? When you come home, your shoes will be shined.
