1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I've started to apply for driving jobs as a noobie at companies that offer training. Before filling out apps I decided to get my own Driver History for reference.

What I'm wondering is I have been in 2 car accidents but none of them are on my Driver History. One was a rear end, someone crashed into me on icy roads while I was stationary waiting for a light to change.

The other one was on icy roads and I was hit on the side after pulling into traffic. Arguably I could be considered partly at fault, but I do think the other driver was speeding(he somehow managed to hit me twice in a 25mph zone in downtown). However I made an appointment to challenge the ticket in court and explain what happened. As it turned out the cop never should up and my ticket was automatically dismissed.

So what I'm wondering is if I need to bother including these on my applications if they are not on my record. Obviously reporting the rear end that was not my fault at all is no big deal, but do I need to report the 2nd crash I was involved with? No fault was determined for me because the ticket was dismissed in court. As far as I can tell it is not on any record anywhere.

Aside from this stuff I have 3 moving violations which I'm definitely including on my apps. 2 for speeding and 1 for a Rolling Stop. I just have 3 points on my license now. My last ticket on my record was in 2006.

If you know for sure its not on your MVR--you shouldnt have to report it. If you get a copy of your MVR--it should tell you whats on there. Otherwise--i wouldnt report it if its not on the MVR.

Okay thanks. That was my feeling on it but thought I should double check.

My report is from the Michigan Secretary of State office and it only has my moving violations on it. No car accidents show up on it. I guess that is because I didn't get any tickets for them.

Make sure you get a 10-year driving history printed out...That's how far they will want to look. If it's not on there you probably don't have to report it.

You should be able to get a MVR report from the DMV. Not sure how they do it there but you should be able to get it from DMV.

What happens if you change states? Do you report the 1st state or just the present one?

I've only lived in Michigan so I don't have to worry about records from different states. Also Michigan's Secretary of State is our equivalent to the DMV here.

you have to have a mvr for the last 10 years in all states you were licensed for most companies. As they will ask for DL#'s from the last 10 years of licensed you held.
