Made a decision on Werner

Werner at the end of the day is good as long as you get a good fleet manager the only reason im leaving them is because I got offered a home daily and I don't want to be the type of driver who work his butt off and forgets that life is more than a good payday and a good looking truck.

 

Like ruckie said. It a good company. Dedicated is the way to go here since u get paid more per mile. Or depending on the account u get a decent unload pay and stop pay. Which will add up quick if. U have a good flert manager and load planner.

 

Each dedicated run has different pay scales at Werner. Then they have bonus, rewards, saftey, and more. It is confusing

 

northeast regional, midwest and 48 states pays 26 cents a mile, werner is a joke and i always ask werner drivers how are they still over the road, they don't have a life.

 

I was a driver for Werner for almost 4 years. I have a u tube channel where I talk about my experiences with them. I recommend them for new students. Look for trainerjames2013 on u tube.

 

You can go to the bad trucking company forum and find out that they are all bad. Some worse than others. I spent 3 months at Swift and then went to Werner. Swift had better Qualcomms, but they did not keep me moving. I sit alot... Also they pissed me off by wanting me to write the trailer tag number down every time I sent a GOAL message on the qualcomm. That is just too much baby sitting for me.

Werner, kept me moving, but I did not like how they did it. Sometimes they would send me on a 1000 mile trip and then I would have two or three trips moving trailers around that were less than 25 miles. Many times they would use solo drivers on to pickup the load and drop it off at a drop yard 100 miles away. Then a team would pick it up and get all the miles. Basically they use Solo drivers to sit at docks getting load (you don't get paid for this) and then split the load off to a team when you are enroute.

I left Werner after a being out for 5 weeks, I had a home time request and they did not get me home for my sons wedding. After working for myself the last 6 months, I am thinking of going back into Trucking and Werner is on my list. Overall they were not that bad. I think all trucking companies have problems with home time, low pay, and getting drivers the miles they want. At least with Werner, I know what to expect going back...

 

I know I really don't have much of a right to say anything yet being as I have no exp. But I do start with werner at the end of August. As of right now they are just a way for me to get my 2 yrs. exp that alot of local companies nearby require. I won't know much about anything they do or go about doing until then but my goal is just to stick with it instead of moving from one company to the next because it doesn't look good for exp. for jobs. But it seems to me from what ive read everywhere about werner that they seem to be a decent and succesful company. Alot of the bad reviews I saw were from people with bad attitudes trying to make bank there first year driving. No company is going to do that unless you have exp. But thanks guys all the help did me some good!
