I use to have that code in my Volvo....it happened when the red transmission light on the buttons was flashing and it seemed to be stuck in neutral.....I turned truck off and it reset.....I think later on down the road I replaced the xy splitter and something else and it went away...

If I am not mistaken the part was around $6-700 and its not hard to install. Would take the average mechanic about 30-40 minutes to install.

I'm getting a code 51 on the tranny. This is a direct code for that sensor. Just got a call back from the dealer and was informed you can buy the replacement kit just for that position sensor for $85. I think in gonna go that route first to see what happens

Good luck with it. Hopefully it does the job. Its probably worth the risk of it for a fraction of the cost. I dont know what year your truck is but on our 2006 with ultrashift. There was an update to the XY shifter if you havent had it changed out it really needs to be. The older ones the brushes wouldnt make contact once they were worn a bit in the XY motor(The wire to the brush was to short from the manufacture.)

On ours it wasnt technically a recall...it was what they called an "updated" part. The difference being is if it is out of warranty they arent going to swap it out for free. 2007 is about the time that the new xy shifters started showing up though. So hopefully yours has the latest one in it. The only way I can tell them apart is the new ones have a green dot on one of the canisters if I remember correctly. But if yours shipped with it, it may not have the green dot on it.
