Knowing how important insurance cost is to a small company such as I have I have not let idle talk persuade me about Affordable Health and Life insurance for my employees and family. I contacted a professional insurance company to explain what this means to me and my employees. This is a very lengthy law and to be honest I know nothing about insurance but the bottom line for me and my group. I have less than 50 employees and my insurance cuts into the bottom line. I offer health and accident also life insurance as a benefits package. These benefits coupled with good pay miles give me an advantage to keep good employees. Now with that said I contacted a professional insurance company to work over my plans and see if the Affordable Health care act would benefit my overall insurance cost. Fellows don’t listen to those that try to make a politician statement or fall for the insurance sponsored ads that are politically motivated. The firm that I hired came to my business office to look at our records and coverage. These were professional people in every spec so now we’ve added coverage to include dental and eye also cover 2 employees that had preexisting conditions that I could not cover. I had to change the way I applied my benefits package for employees and now I am extremely happy along with my employees. My cost has dropped 37% even with the added coverage. Before you guys blast off on Obamacare get some real insurance professionals to explain just what this law will do for the average trucker and small company such as mine. Don’t let a posting board persuade you that this is a bad deal before checking first. No I’m not a Democrat or a Republican, I’m an Independent. This is a very complicated law and for those that try to undermine this by telling you their insurance has jumped 50% with less coverage is simply doing this whole community a disservice.

I am not sure where you get this.

My premiums as a self employed have been the most stable and lowest increasing that they have been since I started with the company in 2003.

In addition, I no longer have a cap on the coverage of the plan. No longer any pre existing health conditions.

In order to avoid politics, you might like to google the effects on NY and Maryland so far.

If you are employed by a company with more than 50 employees then the company has to offer insurance. If it is less than 50 you will be able to enter the state exchange in October and your rate will depend on what you make.

Within the next few years people who are unhappy with their company insurance will also be able to go into the state exchange but as of right now they can't.

You can add seven more states that have embraced Obamacare as its dropped States insurance cost for state employees. One of these state is AZ and all of us know how much Jan Brewer hates Obama but she has now came out in favor of Obamacare.

I had to do almost the same thing. I have 19 employees and the law confused the heck out of me. Because the law more insurance companies are now offering coverage in NY and ours has now gone down almost 40%.

Im with you STexan. My insurance premium has went up every year for the last two years and crappier coverage, due to Obama Care. Three years ago I had $0 deductible and paid 20 dollars per office visit and $300 monthly premium. Now I have a 3000 deductible and nothing paid until I reach the deductible. I now pay 400 or more a month depending on how much I put on my HSA card. More money crappier coverage. Cant wait until we all have to go single payer like all other socialist countries.

I guess the biggest change is the many people without insurance in our industry will have it now. Yes, they or their employer will have to pay for it. But, it will be available much cheaper than before, especially if you are purchasing as a private individual. We would hope that with more people insured the rates will come down some. Republicans say no, Democrats say yes, time will tell but the theory is sound I think.

Health care costs overall will probably continue to rise as they have for 30 years, I guess the change is now we can blame it on Obama ! yippee !
