Any info or help with what programs people find most helpful would be appreciated.

Quickbooks? There are free trials for both of the programs recommended thus far.

Simply accounting - I like it too as it makes it easy to send it over to my accountant as they use that too.

I use quickbooks. For everyday use either simply accounting or quickbooks will work great. If you already have an accountant I would ask them which one they prefer to work out of as it will help them out. If you don't have a lot of accounting experience then they will be doing a lot of work at quarters and year end and will help speed up what they need to do.

I use profit gauges, Just hit print at the end of the year and your done. It also breaks everything down by CPM so you know all your costs and profits by the mile. It's purpose built just for trucking. It cost $20 a month not sure if that's high or not but I think it's worth it. I also use fuel gauges to track fuel mileage and profit gauges pulls all the info in from there on fuel costs so I'm not entering in the info twice.
