So the weight/ length of article that determines number of straps required is met by the straps that go over the entire load?SHC Thanks this.
-
Ya couldn't have 40' 3 tiers and 2 straps on each tier. You need all the required ones over the top. That would be 5 minimum over the top plus the 4 from the 2 tiers for this example.
BAYOU Thanks this. -
Many pipe yards are now requiring Pipe Pins.
48 inches high with a covering to prevent metal to metal contact and 3 inches in diameter round or square.
Must sit 12 inches down into pockets and must be welded to the frame. No cracks in pin pockets..
Hardwood timbers and chock each layer at 4 sides. Two nails in each chock
Three straps on each layer and 1 strap each 10 feet across the top.
Oh and some will not allow you to climb on trailer must use their OSHA approved ladder.
All this BS and the prices are to cheap.
The old pieces of angle iron are just not good enough anymore -
You also forgot a headache rack or head board!!!!

i thoought someone on here once mentioned about not being able to get unloaded becuase they had a rack.
last year they went to the receiver and i (think) he unloaded himself. -
I was refused loading pipe in Houston once due to not having a cab guard.
As it turns out this morning I won't have to resort to loading pipe after all. It never ceases to amaze me how those that pay the least have the most BS to deal with.
On Friday I had a load offer sent to me all confirmed to load Monday AM. By Friday afternoon I got a call from the office not to load until I got a confirmation on Monday as there was a problem with the receiver.
Wouldn't someone figure that our BEFORE ordering the truck?
I'm onto bigger and better things today. -
I was at Dewey pipe yard in houston,tx one time when they refused to unload a stepdeck that had some 20ft bundles of pipe on the bottom deck and was not even 2ft tall. Why the hell do you need a rack when it's not even required by law and there only unloading is beyond me. The driver pulled it in from Oh somewhere and they didn't care nor did the broker poor guy had to pay another driver to pull his trailer in and drop.

That's when u give them option of taking it off or having it self unloaded in their driveway. Then again, u can always take it to the scrap yard also

I always chained the pipe I hauled, guess it wasnt very important stuff...lol
