During my first year I was rolling over a scale in Ohio. An authoritive sounding voice came over the CB and said "Dick Simon Trucking, park and come inside". As it was my first time ever getting pulled in I was very nervous as I gathered my logs and permit book and bills of lading and walked inside. The dot guy looked up and said "can I help you?". I learned then that you always turn the radio off when rolling through the scales. Those other drivers must have laughed it up for 600 miles.

Installed a cab blow-out kit using the air line going to the seat suspension/ride height (would only blow 2 sec before running out of juice and dropping seat - never completely sealed so seat would drop every 15 minutes).
Yeah, use the supply line guys -

My first trainer had a cheap platic cab blow out kit, and the hose broke, drained our air tanks completely, now I refuse to put one in my truck

Sounds like he got a bargain.... NOT!
Go for quality every time. Ever buy a cheap 50' air hose and try to use it when it gets really cold? PVC starts shattering at around 0ºF... pay the extra $10 for the hose that can take the cold. -

Here's another one:
Lying about your income.
You're not going to impress anyone being under your own authority and/or driving for a bottom feeder. Be truthful about your income so that others coming into the industry can make more accurate decisions about where they want to end up.
