They don't have to tell you why or provide you with documentation is what they will tell you. Some companies tell older experienced drivers they are unhireable once they find they have to pay them top rate (happened to me). Or, there might be something on HireRight (DAC) that was put on there. Should request a free copy from HireRight and if there is anything negative on it, have it removed via written letter/attorney letter. Some companies just don't like the way drivers look or talk. Many reasons. Once a red-necked guy in orientation told us that the company was putting us on 30 days probation, I politely told told him "thank you" because I was only giving them 2 weeks probation, and if they are no good, I was firing them as my employer. Needless to say, I was unhireable the next day and left.
Have any of you been rejected by a trucking company....

They don't want us ole guys because we know the game they play. Like I said they cant Mold us because were not puppets. They want the ones who will do what they are told no matter what. They know we won't take their crap and so its better for them to hire a weak newbie and treat them like second class humans knowing that their lies and deceptive practices will keep the newbie in check. Best place for us old guys is behind the wheel of our own trucks plain and simple.
Saddletramp1200 and Joetro Thank this. -
Dangit driver, not only rejected by JB Hunt (bad enough) but even rejected by the company you had actually previously worked for? How ugly are you?

I got rejected 3 times, 2 were for my mvr & 1 for my background

I agree 100%. I am also from the 'old school'. Exactly, they can't fit us into their little game mold. What kills me is the fact that many of the companies are paying 1991 wages to new drivers.Bret1984 Thanks this.

LOL. Same thing happened to me with Swift in '88. Counting my blessings...

I was rejected by about 25 companies coming out of driving school. There were only three companies that I was really shooting for but applied anywhere and everywhere just in case. Ended up getting a job at one of the three while the other two rejected me and it was a great first job. I was rejected by the likes of England, Swift, Schneider, Werner, etc. along the way though.
I know it was my criminal record though and some actually told me that. Had a marijuana possession about 8 years beforehand at the time and most companies wanted any drug charge, even misdemeanor, to be at least 10 years old. Someone gave me the chance though and things have worked out well since. Stupid crap you did comes back to bite you in the rear. Looking back though I realize that it helped guide me down the path to where I am now.Big Don Thanks this. -
Interesting how things that sometimes seem to be a curse, turn out to be a blessing! If we could only have the life perspective at 20 that we have at 40 or 50, how much simpler life could be.
DirtyBob, truckon, Joetro and 1 other person Thank this. -
Yes, it's happened but I don't sweat it. I've rejected far more job offers than I've been rejected for.
