So a driver failed to inform me about a truck needing wiper blades. Instead, he let it scratch the hell out of the windshield. I've done a little bit of google/youtube searching and found where someone used a buffer and wax to take scratches out of a windshield but I thought I would turn here for advice! Anyone know any methods to take relatively deep scratches out of a windshield??

I would like to know too! I remember years ago watching an episode of "Shadetree Mechanic" and they had some polish for glass. It was like a really fine powder or something. I think it was more for light scratches and sand blasted glass, not sure about deeper scratches.

Better off replacing the windshield. I had a new windshield put in on our T600 one time and I noticed a scratch after the install (of all place, right in the drivers view). The company had it buffed out, but it still had an imperfection that was bothersome mostly at night. We ended up replacing the windshield again.

58 skylane has the right idea, the windshields are getting to be one of the cheapest parts to replace.

I asked my glass man about fixing windshield scratches, he said just to replace it. There's no good way to buff them out.

Well the truck was actually wrecked at one point. There was a windshield put in it and I think the cab is tweaked just a little bit to where the windshield doesn't want to seal right. I have gooped junk all around it to get this one to seal hah. I'd hate to put a new windshield in it and have that problem all over again but from what I can find, I think that's about the only solution. I appreciate all the responses!
58Skylane Thanks this. -
you can use cerium oxide and a wool pad on a buffer to polish out scratches but when you do the 2 sides are not parallel and it will have distortion.
