Yup the simple answer is to bring clothes for both the hottest heat and coldest winter. There were times in March where down south it would be 85 then I drove up north where it is 35 and windy.

you will have no need for the clothing articles mentioned ... ever in trucking.. unless.. you wish to invite the attention that will come with it. once you have graduated "waiting for a trainer" you will receive a list from the company on what to take with you.. keep it simple and practical.. the sink can be left behind

When I left home for orientation I came prepared with everything I would need for two months on the road. I did have an advantage of prior experience OTR, so I knew what to bring. It is best if you do come prepared to be on the road... that is, if you actually want to get on the road.

I remember when orientation finished it seemed like half the class needed to go home to "mommy" before shipping out. The recruiter/trainer's were rolling their eyes. If you are going to orientation be prepared to get on the road. Nothing sells the fact that you really aren't made out for this job than coming to orientation unprepared.

Since getting on the road I've also supplemented my clothes. Walmart does have a good selection of work clothes.

You will need work gloves. I've noticed that WM has the nitrile dipped gloves in the garden section for about $6 for a pack of 5. The T/A I was in the other day also had a similar price for a bulk pack. Normal price for these at truck stops is about $5 per pair, so I stocked up with a bulk pack.

Regarding fashion considerations.... remember that you are representing your company when you arrive at your customer. I'd avoid trying to be cute and concentrate on trying to be professional and effective. By effective I mean you need to be able to crawl under a trailer to bang away on a sticky tandem pin, sweep your trailer, change oil, etc. etc.... then you also need to present yourself in a way that a customer is confident you can get their expensive load to the customer with no problems.
