The full lockers disengage when you shift to high range, that can easily be disabled and many dealerships will do that upon request as part of the PDI. Just don't forget, that the truck will understeer with them engaged. I recall spinning with the lockers engaged in high range pulling an M/T super going up the "hill" to the Whitecourt scale. Roads were pretty bad that day.
The newer Petes have an annoying "warning" light that the inter-axle is engaged, it"s right between the speedo/tach and it flashes every time the speedo sweeps past the 40kph mark up and down... POS
Buying a new truck this week, should i buy new or used?

The new Mack I drive has an annoying beeper going whenever it is engaged.
-
All our Prostars came the same way from the factory. I just had the dealer reconfigure the ECM and cancel the alarm; it's one of the selectable options like idle shut down, etc. It's a five minute job.Threedog Thanks this.

Your trucks beep when the inter axle is engaged ? That's just stupid.
-
I was told that although it is the assembly line default it is primarily targeted at the American market... draw your own conclusion.
And yes, the constant beeping was enough to make me want to go postal before I had it corrected. Now we get it fixed when we take delivery of a truck. -
Its obviously there because they figure everybody is to stupid to know what it is really for. I have one in my truck, air operated only, no lights or beepers. Trucks just arnt really trucks anymore...more like glorified cars with all the 'bells n whistles'...

I just wanted to be provincial and that sounded pretty good - now they want to pro rate me. Do I want to be pro rated?
federal hours of service, permits etc.
Any lost revenue and higher costs fall on me. -
YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Taxes to be paid on prorated basis with the provinces they licence you in based on the cost of your truck and depreciated is allowed to 50 % of original cost only.
Stay away from Federal if you can. Stay Provincial and if you need you can work 15 a day 7 days a week. The Feds tell you WHEN to go nigh night, HOW LONG to go Nigh Night and WHERE to go nigh night. (Probably want to tell you who you can go nigh night with too)etc etc etc. -
Big Brother is watching all the time... who said communism is dead?

The way they explained it to me, is if I pro rate I'm following federal hours of service rules. They say they want to pro rate me so I can stay busy when Alberta slows down - go into B.C., but I don't want to go on the cycles. The provincial guys are working every day no resets, On federal rules I'll be parked and they'll still be trucking. Maybe I'm not getting something here, are they trying to screw me or help me. I have the choice, but they are pushing me towards pro rate.
I have my truck picked out - its a Mack. Now I'm working on the rig up. Banks going to approve me this week. I went variable rate.
