Just talked to Nick, he is finally done with orientation. He is going to pick up his first load in St. George and come home to Vegas for the night, he will get all of his stuff that he needs and he will head to stockton Ca tomorrow to deliver a load on Friday. I can't wait to see him and check out the truck! I am super excited.

Wanted to add that on Monday there were a total of 5 people in the class as of yesterday there were only 3 and today only he and 1 other driver had trucks with loads, the third guy they felt he wasn't ready to drive on his own yet so I think they may send him out with a driver or who knows.

Glad to hear he's under a load and rollin' - that is awesome. How was the truck? Cool, I bet!

2 or 3 out of 5 isn't bad... glad they aren't putting just any ol' buddy behind the wheel. Can't afford to nowadays and I heard the instructor is the Safety Dept. Lady so she's probably extra aware and cautious.

    Hope he likes it!

He dropped of his first Load in Stockton Ca this morning and he already had a pre plan as of yesterday to pick up at 11am in Stockton and take it to Ontario, it wasn't due in Ontario until 7am Monday morning. So he got a message this morning from him DM asking if he wanted to come home this weekend and he of course said sure he'd love to. So he will take that load to Fontana and drop it off at the terminal and then either pick up a load that comes to Vegas or DH home. He's been waiting to pick up this load for a while now and he was told they wouldn't be ready until 2pm so now he sits and is losing time on his clock so he wont have a whole lot of time to drive today. He will have to start early in the morning to head towards this way. He really loves driving so he's super happy now. Which hey if he's happy so am I. He loves his truck too it's pretty awesome. I got to check it out on the inside and I really liked it. He's made it into his home away from home :)

Well, that all sounds terrific! We are in Richmond, VA for the weekend. Not much moves in the expedited industry over the weekend. Had a military load to deliver in the wee hours this morning in Norfolk but that's all she wrote until Monday probably. Getting our DOD apps filled out so we can see if that option will keep us busier until it's manageable to get work closer to home. Glad your honey is lovin' life and hope you get to go out with him. I love being a co-driver with my husband.

Guess I should post an update lol. Well Nick has been running only in California since he started on his own. He is currently in Long Beach, Ca he dropped off a load at Office Depot this morning at 2am. He was able to come home early Sunday morning for a small amount of hometime. He got a call from his DM yesterday around noon telling him that he needed to pick up here in Vegas and head to Long Beach for a 2am delivery so he left around 3pm yesterday so he got a little over 24 hours home this weekend, it would have been more but Nestle made him wait for 10 hours to load him and that was his load home so oh well, he did get paid detention pay so it wasn't too bad. Now he is waiting for his 10 hr reset and a pre plan on his next pick up, I am sure it will be something that has to go somewhere in California, were hoping he gets more loads going further to Oregon or Wyoming. Only time will tell. I will update more when I can.

So Nick got a pre plan, he is on his way to Rancho Cucamonga right now to pick up a load for Big Lots, he will head back to Vegas after that and he doesn't have to deliver the first load until The 1st at 4am here in Vegas and then he will be on his way to Cedar City Utah after that and well who knows after that. I am glad that he does get to come back home for a night though so that makes me happy. So far so good with Andrus.

Terrific! Sounds great. It's good to live where there is a terminal!! We have no terminals with this company. LOL From Virginia we bounced around Pennsylvania for a couple of days and then got a load to Laredo, which is where we sit for now. Never know where we are going either and that's okay for now. :) Have a great day!

Sorry. I've been super busy with a career switch of my own and haven't had much time to get on here. Everything is still going really well with nick and andrus he's done almost 3k miles this week alone. Today's paycheck was really good and he only had like 2000 miles last week. He's been getting a lot if good loads and is currently in Denver on his way to Utah. He had a bit of a hiccup this week, he went to pick up a trailer from the drop yard and it had a flat tire! So he had to limp it down to get it fixed he was there a few hours. Then he took it up to Idaho and when he went to deliver one of the pins on the wheels was broke so they couldn't move the tires all the way to the back so they had to live unload and then take the trailer to get it fixed. That trailer was a nightmare glad he got rid of it. I just wonder how the guy that dropped it in Vegas didn't notice the flat tire. Guess he didn't do his post trip. Other than that though things have been fairly smooth.

Terrific!! 3K for a solo driver is running pretty darned hard that week... what with the chasing down trailers and getting them fixed when need be... just like you described happened in Denver and Idaho. I wish all drivers would be conscientious about post trips instead of leaving repairs to the next guy to take care of. That's one thing we are glad to not have to worry about with the straight truck since the trailer is attached. We're grateful for that while it lasts. Are still keeping Andrus in mind for future reference. Even looking into some properties in Utah for down the line. Will hate to give up this big ol' walk-in closet sleeper though... :-( But, we'll do whatever we gotta do whenever it's time to do it. Glad it's workin' out for Nick and hope your new job switch does too! Thank goodness we're working when so many folks are having a hard time of it. Trucking is one of the increasingly few jobs that's full-time. Go figure.
