I recently got off my trainers truck because i was getting nervous. He was helping me out alot but it just wasn't clicking. I was slowly getting better but my confidence would go down right after i make a mistake. I had no clutch experince before i started school. Every time i would miss a gear i would get upset with myself. I ended up quiting after a week and ahalf. I was scared that if i make a mistake i could end up killing somebody or myself. Is there anyway to get over that fear?

Go with a company that has automatic transmissions. Put it in gear and go; concentrate on driving and let the transmission do the shifting. Put your location on your profile so other drivers can help you find a company with auto's; need to know what hiring area you are in. You will do fine then.

It takes time. But you'll never know that if you start making this a habit quitting companies. You have to give it a chance. You feel nervous not a problem sit in the passenger seat till you feel you are ready even if it takes a few days.Don't just up and quit when you feel scared and nervous.Get in there and BE TOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!! You can do this.

Bottom line is some people are not good drivers. Heck you see them in cars, motorcycles and of course trucks. If you get nevous driving, that is a problem. You need to stay calm while you drive.

I have a friend that has had 8 wrecks in his car. If you ask him, he talks about how great he drives. He is 35 years old.

I am over 57 and put several million miles behind a wheel of car, van, etc. I have never had any wrecks and only 1 ticket over 15 years ago.

When people pull out in front of me, I smile. When someone cuts me off, I shake my head. I know one thing, some people get it and other don't. I think it all about attitude. If you stay calm and think about being safe, who cares if you grind gears or miss a shift?

everyone is nervous driving a rig for the first time.

    everyone screws up too.

you're not going through anything any different then everyone else went through.

    it just takes time.

My trainer said my driving isn't a problem. He said its more of my confidence in myself than anything else.

When I first started school I was real nervous. After working with the truck and seeing what I had to do i began to calm down. If you miss a gear you can not get upset about it. Make it your mission to put it back and gear and try again. You can't get upset with your self because if you get on the road and miss a gear and then throw a temper tantrum thats when you put others lives at risk. Just take a deep breath realize its all ok and get it back in gear.
