There's a hose behind the inspection office.
That's what I was thinking. -
When I was with Roehl and I'd haul the small massey ferguson tractors out of the baltimore area in a curtainside we'd secure it that way. We had nowhere to hook chains to the trailer though. The few times I hauled them on a flatbed I always used 2 chains and 4 binders on each one.

I've hauled all kinds of tractors and have never found one that wasn't stupid easy to chain down yet. What is the deal with some guys love affair with the straps ? I pull out my chains whenever I can and I still find myself having to replace straps regularly. no clue why you would choose to use straps if you can put a chain on it.
SHC, Oscar the KW, Clasix1055 and 2 others Thank this. -
My personal rule is if I can use chains I use them.
dannythetrucker Thanks this. -
Whenever I hauled those small John Deere tractors out of Grovetown, GA they required them to be strapped, not chained.

man, shippers are out of hand. They want me to insure the load and haul it under my authority with all the risk associated and then tell me how to secure it ? ridiculous. I mean, I generally ask how other guys secure or what they recommend, but I demand final decision how to do it. Are they worried you will scratch the paint on the hitch or what ? I'll wrap the chains in furniture pads if I have to.BigJls1 Thanks this.

Yea they said chains would dig into the hitch. The first load I ever hauled out of there went to Oregon and I took the straps off and threw chains on them before I left Georgia.
dannythetrucker Thanks this. -
Next time I'll throw a strap over the hood and the drivers seat
dannythetrucker, MJ1657 and cetanediesel Thank this. -
Do they think the average farmer gives a rip if their hitch has a scratch on it?
