so nothing below 6" from the top, and nothing higher than the wipers from the bottom. Do I have that correct?

It varies state by state. :biggrin_25513:

Here is a link to a site that tracked the various regs: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/34521

Generally it's okay to put them in the lower corners OR within a 6" band at the top of the windshield as long as it is NOT within the swept area of the windshield wipers. Same deal for dash cams, EZ-Pass, etc.

    YMMV.

The way I read 393.60 is:Nothing farther down than 6" from the top, AND, nothing tlin the swept area of the wipers.
Mine was in the bottom right corner of the drivers side windshield. The GPS actually rested on the dash....its a FMCSR 393.60 (e). 393.60 (e) II provides an exemption for inspection stickers, because apparently those aren't obstructive...:biggrin_25512:

I believe the regs define the windshield as a single element. (i.e. The "bottom right corner" is on the Pass. side of the vehicle) That being said, I think the trooper failed the "spirit of the law" test to the extent that the only thing obstructed by a GPS at the bottom center of a Cascadia windshield is your view of the cowl area of the hood. The pursuit of revenue unfortunately appears to have trumped common sense; sorry about your luck.

Glad to hear pollock is doing better, I'm not a maverick but read the threads, hope he's back in the seat soon, he's obviously a tough dude for what he's been through.

What happened? I follow the Maverick threads but I must have missed it. I have been reading the updates and I too am glad he is improving.
