I applied at McLane Foodservice today due to some feedback I received from fellow drivers on the road.
The Transportation Manager was headed out of a meeting and took some time to answer a few questions.
He acknowledge that the job was labor intensive but said it could be rewarding due to some nice schedules, benefits and pay.
    I have a follow-up interview on Tuesday.
Can anyone provide any info on things you've heard about McLane.
    Thanks,
    Murff-Dog.

Sorry I cannot answer but funny you mention this as I delivered to Mclane yesterday from a broker load and saw that they were advertising that pay rate if you drove for them. I did do a simple search and found a lengthy topic about them here on this site.

Were you delivering in the Texas area or another area of the country?

sure, how long and hard do you want to work? I have a friend who works for Sysco, he makes about $65K, works 15 hrs per day, 5 days a week, year round. Oh, and that's not to start, that's after you've been there awhile

I don't mind hard work but 15 hours a day at 5 days a week sound quite ridiculous.
Have you heard similar stories about McLane?

I have a couple buddies at Mclane here in Fl. They like the pay but the routes vary. Some night your out between 16-24 hour because its two drivers. The work isn't as hard as it is where I'm at. I work for Sysco and the pay is above avg but the work is very hard and we do work 12-14 hours a day 5 days a week. I think Mclane is four night a week. But the thing is that they are at 24/7 d/c so your route can go out at any time on any day. Also I'm not sure about Tex but down here when you first start at Mclane your not on a schedule, your on a strict on-call board meaning at the drop of a dime if they call you you have to go in. I think it last for about your first 3-6 months. But the team driving and schedule is why I chose sysco. Good luck and if you have any questions about food service let me know

Do you buddies like McLane a lot? I could deal with the on-call for a few months as long as the wife can handle it. Is Sysco 24/7?... Are you and your buddies making comparable $$$?

Sysco is mon-sat. Some Sysco houses are only mon-fri. Our hours are from 3-6 am until 1-5 pm we deliver daytime only. They like Mclane because the work isn't as hard but it is long. And me and a few of us like the hard work and the shorter hours. The money is the same 1200-1600 a week.

The Trans Manager at McLane said they have Grocery and Foodservice buildings. The Foodservice buildings dont have 2 drivers on a truck so it would be some hard work but I like the $$ they are talking about. How long have your buddies worked for McLane?

They are always running ads on TV here in Kansas City, $23. per hour. Don't know nothing about them though.
