60 days would be about right.
Yup, you need to disclose all of that. They're very interested in your honesty, not so much that you did something minor 4 or 5 years ago.

Ironpony how do you like working for prime? would like to get some other drivers input also
-
Time out for a trivial question: are Prime trucks (generally) outfitted with SiriusXM radio? I had it before, and I've actually missed it.
-
Yep... a Sirius receiver/cd player. You have to apply money to get it to work though.
It works for me. They do things that I don't generally like, and they do a lot of things I do like. On the whole, the balance for me is on the positive side, which is why I'm still here. As I poke around the forums, I have yet to see a carrier that doesn't have that sort of positive/negative balance when the drivers are yakking at each other. Considering my feelings on it, I have yet to see one that I'd rather be pulling for.quetzalcoatl Thanks this. -
Okay, I'm sure I could spend hours reading through this thread and a couple of others, (I am reading through some of them) BUT, I would like a square answer. What are the physical requirements to work for Prime? I have read the website, (I should just call my recruiter, but I want raise the question here anyway). In particular BMI? I keep reading about a sleep study... if I fail the BMI, what does that mean exactly? Do I fail just because it's high? If I am found to have sleep apnea, will the company decide not to hire me? @Ironpony, I am particularly curious in what you have to say as you seem to have a lot to say. What other physical test do they perform on students during orientation, I know I read in one thread about some kind of funny walk where you essentially have squat and walk, can someone explain this in more detail.
BTW, my BMI according to my last visit with my doc was 41. I'm 6'2, 320.
PS, I won't respond to fat shaming. I am very comfortable with myself.
Also I am having some trouble finding a list of medical dis-qualifiers, can someone please point me in the right direction.
Oh and for the record, I am very serious about going to work for Prime. Not sure why exactly, I just have had a good feeling about them since I began looking into what options will best suit me as pursue this career. There are some things I don't like, but other things I do like. Same with every company I look at, but again, I my gut is telling me this is the one. -
There is no BMI "test," and it's not something that will prevent you from being hired. As far as the sleep apnea test, it's only ordered on a doctor's diagnosis during your DOT physical at orientation. By all accounts, most of those who have sleep apnea and are treated for it are very positive about the improvement in their health. It's Prime's policy to work with their drivers on sleep apnea issues, and it will not prevent you from being hired if you're found to have it.
That "funny" walk would be the duck walk. Squat down, take a couple of steps, and you've got it. They just want to make sure you can do what's physically necessary to get under a trailer to inspect it properly. I can't tell you anything further about the current physical requirements... it's been a number of years since I was at orientation.ScandBro Thanks this. -
Awesome, thanks for replying so quickly. Yes the duck walk! Hilarious! The first time I read it I tried it immediately. I am able to make it about 8 feet before I kind of wobble and have to put my hand out to keep from rolling on the floor..I have to admit I make myself laugh doing it! I find it really works my quads, I'm gonna make it regular exorcise, gotta get my Tina Turner thighs back! LOL

Do you have the same trainer during your cdl permit and after your cdl
-
One more question on sleep study. IF I am found to need a sleep study, will that delay the training, and how long it takes to get hired? (i'm on my way to check out the what to expect thread. I know you guys get these questions a lot)
-
Depends, Some Instructors will train TNT and others won't. Me personally, I did not train TNT, I can't sleep when someone else is driving LOLTICKLES Thanks this.
