Let's be honest if they would of did the right thing. Would there be a slew of drivers knocking down SRT's door. No!! It's funny at all the experienced drivers who said they would not work for them now. Dude you knew they had a bad wrap to begin with. Sadly everybody wants to knock the bad, but don't want to give props to those who actually helped the driver get home. Those nameless souls who donated. Those nameless drivers who carried the ashes in their truck. May God bless them.

How many drivers die in their truck each year at any given large company? I think if you're the CEO you just plan on this cost. The result when a story like this gets out has to be far worse.
And we also forget how the family was treated from the beginning. Could not SRT been more helpful locating him, especially, with the satellite tracking on the truck?mje Thanks this. -
And don't forget, SRT is part of the Covenant Transportation Group. So in essence, Covenant Transport and all other entities need to be looked at suspiciously from now on. One could argue that these are separate trucking groups that just happen to be under the Covenant umbrella, but all of those groups follow the lead of the head office. And this incident really is telling.
The commandment to not take take the name of the Lord in vain usually is expressed as in cursing. But behind the original wording, is the real meaning to not "carry or proclaim" the name of the Lord in vain. Well, the Covenant group and their so-called Christian leadership just botched that commandment in spades. Yet, I will bet they will not have the decency to admit a mistake and try to make it right. After all, folks like that feel they are above everyone else and do not have to apologize to anyone for anything. They have absolutely no honor, integrity, or sense of humanity. I doubt anyone actually expected SRT to foot the bill for everything, but the way they blew the wife off and got upset at her contacting them several times and then just discarding the driver like yesterday's trash is really low. They showed no concern whatsoever and wouldn't even help locate the driver and find out what is going on. They will live with this one for a long, long time.
Kudos to TR for getting the information out to us. -
With all the "driver appreciation" stuff and constant talk of how important the drivers are, it took me some time to realize this after working for several companies. I mean, I knew a lot of that was just what they were told to do. But I didn't think the disdain and bitter guile went that deep some of the time. I worked local for an otr company for awhile and witnessed the way drivers are treated and talked about.
It is a sad state of affairs and not too uncommon for the common man in many a profession. I recommend the book "Death of a Salesman" by Arthur Miller.mje Thanks this. -
Not defending the later actions but when i was leased on to srt and for some reason my phone wouldnt work at a poker table they gave her my exact coordinates.. ..key word was wife not gf....,good thing my ears turned red and i got the heck outa their b4 she found me...,,but everything after that was shamefull

I sent a message to covenant on their facebook page today which they promptly deleted wonder why??? Anyways I asked very politely if they were affiliated with srt and if they were aware of this horrible incident. Their response was that they are 2 separate companies with separate management and that srt was preparing to make a statement and their was another side to the story hmm.... Anyways i'm thankfull for those that did the right thing and returned the man's remains to his family and NO matter what srt has to say is total BS!! If this is a major news story reported by a few different media sources then anything other then a complete acceptance of guilt and some sort of gesture of goodwill for the family srt should be prepared for whatever comes from this.
TruckDuo Thanks this. -
As a wife of a trucker, my thoughts and prayers go out to this family. I have had my husband not call me because he didn't have a signal before, and I would call his dispatch. They never gave me an issue with getting information, and when I worked as a dispatcher we had some guys that had girlfriends that would call in wanting to get a message to the driver or worried that they couldn't get ahold of them. We would pass the information along to the driver or if we had permission on file then we would release information to the girlfriend. The thing that purplexes my mind is that I always checked on my drivers every morning to see if they were running on time by pinging the qualcomm system. So why wasn't SRT concerned about it?
Yes, I know that it is not the companies responsibility to get a drivers belongings or their remains back home, but some compassion should have been shown due to the circumstances. I am just glad that the compassion and care came from the Truckers charity and the drivers that helped get his remains home. God Bless you all. -
SRT will deny that it happened like that. They will lie and say they tried to help, but for whatever reason, they couldn't.
The newbes will still flock to them. Life goes on.
Won't hurt them a bit.mje and mamamullins Thank this. -
I applied to this company about a year ago and they are Aholes and alot more and what makes things worse SRT is owned by the same idiot(s) as covenant. By all means STAY AWAY from all the above.
