If they break-in all I'm saying is, If you secure your Freight the best you can, then when it comes time to give "Safty and Police" There report it will be alot less heartache on you showing them a broken lock!

We could leave our house unlocked, and never worry about the ghetto rats.
-
The company provides us with locks that would take an oxy/ace torch to cut off,

Roadkill, Heavy duty lock's?They look impressive. As far as a torch goes.I am not talking about a full set of tanks and regulaters.I can go down to the local hardware store and buy an outfit for thirty dollars.I can cut at least a quarter inch of steel ,which includes any good lock. The pressure doesn't last to long as the tank's are small. They are portable though. And simple to use. They will fit into a small backpack or carry case.Again, a petty thief will proably just walk away.Someone who does this for a living might not.I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but where you park or shut down is important.Foremost,it's your safety, not the cargo.

What I'm getting at is "Save headache" When Co asked was the trl locked? All you say is "yes" it was. Then you are done with the "Headache" and dought is off your Back!

One or two smacks with a sledgehammer will break the bolts right off the mild steel hasp... then it's 'open sesame'. The lock is no stronger than the weakest link. Unless the door hardware itself it made as indestructable as the lock--a determined person will get in very easily.
I agree on locking the trailer however... it keeps the mostly honest people out. I had a homeless person move in to a trailer I dropped one time, right in your neck of the woods, Roadkill--the old Action Auto across from Meijer on Alpine. -
Lol for one, nobody stops at that truckstop in Sinclair who has been there before. Its old, deteriorated, needs major upkeep, the bathrooms have been in need of major overhaul/repair since fall of 06...I mean it is the worst of the worst in regards to truck stops.
Maybe they knew nobody would go there who had a load of any value?
I dont lock my load, mainly because....I dont know why. I swap trailers every day and with my luck, Ill leave a lock on the side door on accident or something. But then again, when I park, I usually dont have any freight of value...if anything its just returns and empty cages. -
I have to lock mine to get out the gate, so I bought the brinks ones that cost like 20 for 4 and they are keyed alike. Instead of the huge one they gave me and will charge me $80.00 if it goes missing. I have left them on and forgot them at a store before. The store called our dispatch and wanted me to come back and get the lock. I told them to cut it, I didn't care I have others... Its more of a deterrant then anything else since anyone who really wants whats in the trailer will find a way..

locks keep honest people honest and shows the person who stole your freight was not just looking for an easy score if they want it enough to cut the lock they can have it i lock and seal every trailer i pick up empty or otherwise, i got loads of company seals for just that.
