It usually takes a few miles before my cruise control will engage and with that my engine brake is functional. If the cruise control is not working then my engine brake will also not function. Any idea as to what the problem might be, thanks.

Check youre clutch and brake pedal switches possibly one of the switches is put of adjustment try to engage the cruise when u lift up the cltuch with youre foot also try the same with the brake pedal

Check the speed sensor.

I had the same thing with an 05' I got me a little bungie cord, and I mean a very light I got mine in the Automotive Dept at Wally World attach it under the dash or around the steering being sure you are not contacting any of the actual steering shaft, then with the other hook place it on or around the peddle. this takes any slack out of the peddle switch or the clutch switch. I hope this helps.

check out return spring on clutch pedal, also vss sensor, any active faults?

check for clutch ore brake switch.

You guys were right on target. I nudged the clutch pedal just a bit and both cruise and jake started functioning fine, thanks again for the help.

Make sure u adjust the switch That way u dont have to put a bunge pr amything it takes bout 15 min or so

if your putting a switch in make sure to replace the return spring those are known common problems with those trucks
