    Frank,
I just see now you are from Newark, NJ.....I just moved to Florida 2 years ago.....born and raised in Philly my whole life.....Lived in Burlington, NJ for a short time....

I will sign my papers on Friday and then ready to run.....I'll be setting up my tractor this week, clothes, tv, radio, etc...paying the 2290 also.....
Mary, my recruiter told me I will have the option to go mileage or not......I will need to run a month or so before I make a decision.....I would guess that we
only fuel the reefer on a drop....not when we pick it up.......
The mileage program definately streamlines the pay process and is easier to calculate......
I'm with you.....just want to see what a few seasoned veterans on the job think of this.....

    LMB,
Did you get your DP Filter cleaned when you got your tractor? They couldn't find any paperwork on mine so they gave me a free oil change and left the filter for me. My tractor has 412K on it and I will be looking to get it done. When I know I'll be home a few days, I am going to schedule a filter clean. I believe they run around $150 to $200 for the cleaning....
There are mobile services that will come to your yard and do it for you.....

Garstein, best of luck to you - i think you made the right call going with the Volvo - it's a smooth ride for sure - I hope and pray the EGR and DP filters, as you just mentioned, don't play havoc. My last truck was a Volvo 780 and if that truck had any issues, it was the EGR - regens and check engine lights out the wazoo...but other people had to fix it then. That's why I stayed away, but the Columbia is no picnic either - just a simpler truck is all.

BTW, to you and LMB, how are the sleepers in the 670s? I heard they're a bit smaller than most - 70" is the standard I think...

I have no problem with the sleeper. I believe you are right with the standard being 70". I am 5'10 so no issues with me. Sunco removed the top bunk for some reason.....now just a single sleeper. I think the 780 are 77" so they are a little bigger. Someday, I would like to move up to a 780 or even possibly a Coronado.....now we're talkin....

    Frank Acavano Thanks this.

Too quiet in here...everyone making too much $ to take the time and say hi? hmmm... Okay, so I will.

Due to my truck being in the shop for an entire week, I now am looking at my third settlement in a row with all of one trip on it. Just enough to pay the insurance and fuel, with a few crumbs left over for The Fixer (me)... It's a tough first month here, but I'm hanging in because of the new system that will come online soon which will provide many more truck options for the L/P'er. Spoke to David in Contractor Relations about it today... he's a great guy, as is his boss, Jon. They both have helped me a lot so far, so I'm gonna run this bad boy as hard as I can for a month or so now, even with my poor fuel mileage, and when they open up the new plan in Sept or Oct they can have it back, in spades! I like the system here a lot - staying in the SE for me is great, never more than a day from the house...but one thing they just changed I think is that they're going to the "short miles" way of figuring trips now. Anyone else notice that yet? My FM Marisol just told me about it. Not good. But I did just get this newest settlement with the mileage pay plan. I like it. No more worrying about deadheads or reefer expenses. Bottom line: Trips NB out of FL will pay better under this system, and trips SB will pay slightly worse. Biggest difference, apart from not paying reefer fuel anymore, is that the long DH is no longer a big deal. I'm on a 243 mile DH now to PU in Statesville NC in the morning, after delivering in Charleston SC today, and will CLEAR about $62 on the deal after fuel. So far, so good.

They offered me a load to Texas today... I accepted then marisol called me back and said it canceled... Can't help but wonder if they had a "senior" driver that wanted it... Anyway got a ConAgra load out of Atlanta... Which is the best paying stuff I've seen... I hope things get better for you frank...

I am doing some calculations but need some more info...
What is the average per mile now with FSC on percentage........1.50? 1.60? or ??
What is the average cost of refer fuel per mile......................05? more or less ??
What is the average weekly deadhead percentage?.....................30%? 40%? ??

at first glance, it looks like mileage revenue is about .08/mile less than percentage but I will
run the numbers again with the actual above info when I get it....
and I will post it here for all to see if I am right or not....
