I recieved my CDL about a month ago. I was pleased with the school I attended to in Chicago,ILL. Was worth every cent. I've learned a lot from pre-trip, and the rest you will learn out in the field. Good luck students and get ready for some adventure, obstacles, and the unexpected. It's a total different world out there
Safe driving everybody.
Thanks

My #1 experience wasn't great. 160 hours at a private CDL school. The classroom time was fine, but we were severely cut on drive time and range time. We also had to share trucks (three students to one truck). This meant each student only got 45 mins of driving each time we went out. As soon as you barely got comfortable with something, you had to give up the wheel. It was enough to pass the CDL, but not enough to keep a job. I had a trainer kick me off his truck the first day out because I made a mistake (which did not result in an accident, but it was enough to cause him to come unglued).
Experience #2 was with a Sage Trucking School Instructor. This was a completely other end of the spectrum experience. All of that training was one-on-one and lasted four hours at a time. He figured out my weak points and we drilled at them each time we went out.
About a week ago, I had to stop by school #1 for a copy of some paperwork. I think they either sold out or lost their license, because there is a different outfit there now. Many more students and many more trucks. None of the same instructors are working there. -
I went to TDI in Milton, FL and my experience was great. The instructors were patient and very helpful. Really great guys. My husband also attended TDI a couple months before me and enjoyed his time there. The instructors all remember me by name when I go back to visit and always ask how my hubby and kids are doing.
