So you might enjoy bull hauling? National Carriers has a bull hauling division in Tyler, Texas.
Also have a reefer division. They recruit from some CDL schools; probably on the website.
Yes, you have a good idea; cruising along the highway with the dog, drinking hot coffee & munching on dog biscuits; even share some with the dog. -
After ALOT of research on this, almost all of the better training companies charge a non-refundable app fee. This is not a money making scheme either, these companies do a very in-depth background check on every applicant they hire ( If you don't believe then just wait till you get there for you interview and they tell you every time you took a leak in the last 50 years) and this money helps to pay for those checks as well as your drug test and so on. Before you say this is all the companies responsibility, just remember that that $100 doesn't even cover but about half the cost of your physical, let alone all the other crap. I personally am applying to Prime and ruled out knight as a close second just because they seem to have a terminal war going on that makes it a nightmare at best to get service and maintenance done on your truck and also I am not sure that I want to be running from yard to yard looking for an empty trailer every time I need to pick up a new load. If you go to their website, they have their divisions there and you click on the training division to learn about their school and I didn't find anything about them only hiring from certain areas and I know they advertise their schooling here in Missouri and Oklahoma. If Prime doesn't go ahead and hire me I will be taking another look into this company and comparing it tao a few new companies I have learned about on these forums.

Pretty sure swift does and I know Prime does because I am headed there, don't remember if CR did or not. I know I ran across several companies that did when I was doing my research, Knight is not the only one. You figure, that $100 doesn't even pay for the physical they are going to give you let alone the drug test and all the back ground checks. This really isn't unreasonable at all. Many companies make you pull your own driving record and any haz-mat job makes you get you TSA background check done out of your pocket and a lot of companies both trucking and not make you pay for your first initial drug test and that $100 wouldn't even get these three things I mentioned, let alone the rest.

It is good if you find a company you are happy with.
I worked for Roads West Transportation. We had it made. Dedicated runs, 72 MPH trucks, Fueled pretty much where we needed to, paper logs. Yes the good life with $$$.
Would you believe some drivers complained about Roads West? I say don't let the door hit them in the ### as they leave.
I always say you will find what you are looking for. Look for good and you will find it. Look for something to complain about and you will be complaining where ever you go.
Knight Refrigerated offers a training program for new drivers. The program is new so I do not have all the details. If I wanted a career in driving; I could go to a tuition based school or get paid to learn. Myself, I took a look at the new laws that came out last year and I retired a happy driver. Best wishes to all you road warriors. Keep it safe out there. -
I drive for Knight and so far i have had 4 people come drive for knight that i talked to. So far all 4 of them have been with knight now for over a year and like it. Here is the catch: I refused to give them my Full name or truck number. Gave them my first name and telephone number and that is it. Told them if i was referring them to knight to get more money then i was just trying to get money. Told them that was not the reason i was telling them about knight and in good conscious i would not want to scam them like that. What i told them was the honest opinion i had about knight and they were thankful for that. Knight is not perfect but neither is any company.

Hey Tallman, Im scheduled to start my orientation with Knight on Monday but still havent made a final decison as of yet. If possible can you PM me? I'd just like the straight skinny on dispatch, newbie pay and all that you care to share. I'd greatly appreciate it.
