My friend has a CDL driving test the end of August but can't find a place to rent without being part of a company. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
Where can I rent a class a truck in Tennessee for CDL test?

Penske or Ryder. You can also ask the place giving you the test.

Sometimes a tractor/trailer training school may let you use theyre truck to take a test. Thats what I did @ $125. a test. If you dont pass, $125 again.

Back in the day, I hung out at the testing station with cash and cut a deal with a driver who was there taking a test. I had talked to the person running the road tests and they were cool with letting me jump to the front of the line once I had a truck lined up. (Front of the line it meant I had to make the deal with someone who came in behind me.)
Good luck. -
There are a few of those companies around, I know here in Arizona there is one that does just that, they rent the vehicle and they also do some training to help you pass it.

Not an option, they do not rent trucks for drive tests.. there are a list of things you must have to rent a truck.. One of them is a business history for X amount of years
-
That is why you do not tell them that. During my truck school guys brought those trucks all of the time and my teacher said it wasn't allowed so drivers just don't tell them what it is used for. It is really stupid why they won't allow that.... so you are allowed to use their truck to haul through streets with other cars but you can't backup in a safe area filled with cones?

Dont tell them what? Its a requirement.. you disclose your business and your financials or you don't rent a truck.. its that simple..You also are limited to just who can drive these trucks per the contract and of course its also VERY expensive! A lot more expensive than going the third party route or contacting a school that may or may not offer their trucks to rent on an hourly basis.
I'm not just making this up. The last time this question came up. I asked our leaser what the requirements were.. and its just not possible to just walk in to a leaser and drive out in a truck. -
Um yes, I know that is true. Read my post again. I doubt they will follow you in their car to see if you take it to a driving course. Like I said my school was also used for CDL tests for anyone in the state so almost every day people brought Penske and Ryder trucks for testing. In life sometimes you have to bend stupid rules. Most rules are only there to keep you down. I have a feeling you won't understand this though.

I have a greater feeling that you've never even been to a truck rental/lease place lately..
