Is it the law for a trucking company to give you a bus ticket home if you quit?

My husband is so fed up with the company he has been driving for that he is ready to quit. He simply isn't getting any miles, and the dispatch is really not on the ball with getting him a load.He ends up sitting around over the weekend with out a load.Things are so financially terrible that he has found another company that is more promising, and he is planning to start working for soon as he can get our bills payed. Unfortunately we are unable to afford a rental car for him to drive home after he drops off the truck at the company. We were told that it is the law for the company to give you a bus ticket home. Does anyone know if this is true?

Not true. He can also have his dac report ruined if he doesn't turn the truck in at their terminal.

Thanks for the reply. He will need to get the bus home from the city the terminal is at. He won't be abandoning the truck. He better not! I know he's tempted too though. LOL. So as far as you know, it isn't a law to provide the driver with a bus ticket home?

No law. You are on your own to get home.
But talk with the new company and they just might buy him a ticket from where he turns the trk. in at to their place where he's going to sign on at.
Just not coming home and then to new job

Not a law but a few companies will set up a bus ticket to the closest terminal for him.

I can't think of even ONE reason that any company should be responsible for getting an employee who has quit, home. He DOESN'T WORK FOR THEM ANYMORE. Or at least he won't after he turns the truck in. They do not owe him anything more than whatever pay/expense money he has coming.

This is like saying that he should go in and work all day Saturday on his own dime, after quitting. It just doesn't make any sense.
